“Classic Hotel”
An old hotel, but with great character. Lounge area amazing. Breakfast as good as you can get.
“Great building, shame it's gone to ruin”
As you walk through reception of the Adelphi, you can sense the grandour of the hotel's former life. There is a very large, adequately appointed lounge with free WIFI, which is great. And some of the front desk staff are helpful (more so than others). Unfortunately, that's where my positive comments stop. When I got off the lift at the floor I was staying on, I was greeted by a bucket in place to catch water (and during my stay, further leaks sprung on the floor I was on). Then, I was unpleasantly surprised (and yes it was a surprise as no one had warned me at any point between booking and checking in) that I had been placed in a smoking room. In this day and age, I thought smoking in hotel rooms wasn't allowed - or at the very least they should be required to forewarn you before you hand over your money! Overall, I had a sad feeling to think that the building had so much potential but clearly the hoteliers don't have any interest in bringing the Adelphi into the 21st century.
“Historic Hotel - Very Central - Beautiful architecture - Rooms could do with an update”
Breath taking architecture, If you like a bit of history it is not to be missed as long as you can make do with less than the highest quality of room. Ballroom modelled on the titanic is a must see. Breakfast good. Lifts are bit slow and tempramental The bedrooms could do with a bit of an update, but nothing that a new tele and some minor work couldn't fix. Selling point - apart from the grand ballroom etc - has to be the location. Step outside and you are in the middle of Liverpool city centre. This was my fourth trip to Liverpool and my fourt stay in the Adelphi... can't wait to go back!
“Affordable, close to trains, and fun hotel”
This is a grand hotel from what must be the early 20th century that has been well maintained. It has an interesting clientele -- elderly touring Brits while I was there. It has a large ballroom, lobby, etc. where everyone congregates to eat, drink chat; a gym which you can get a membership for either free or 5 pounds depending on who you talk to (well worth it and they have classes) and it is conveniently located. Great location and pleasant staff.
“Quaint”
Very old fashioned but quaint hotel. Rooms were very large and quiet. Leisure facilities were a bit dissappointing as changing rooms in particular were very dirty. Surrounding area was a bit rough but handy for train station and other attractions.
“I loved the Adelphi”
It is a beautiful and charming hotel. My room was small but lovely and comfortable,. There was lots of hot water for showers. It was very clean. I had no problems. I cannot fault it at all. I would definitely recommend the Adelphi to anyone. Also, you can see it as you leave Lime Street station which was a great comfort to me as I am very easily lost. I always knew I would be able to find my way back as there are always signs around Liverpool directing you to Lime Street.
“Historic Hotel”
This is a fabulous hotel. A piece of Liverpool history. Some of the most impressive public rooms in the Kingdom
“Never Again Adelphi!”
This Hotel is ok for one night but I was doing 4 with my husband. Never Again! All was good at check in and we where given a room on the 2nd floor. They are meant to be the refurbished ones...The room had been recently painted, the furniture is quite old and musky but hey its an old place. That though does not excuse the stained, smelly pillows and quilt, both of which had no protectors, yuk. I had to cover mine with towels and not pull the quilt over me as the smell made me gag. Thursday night was not to bad, we had had a few drinks. Friday night we realised the matress was all of 4inchs thick. Saturday there was a wedding and the screaming and shouting went on till 5.30am. My husband booked into another Hotel for the final Sunday night. Said he couldnt go another night without sleep. I stuck it out as I couldnt be bothered to pack and move. An odd night maybe ok here but its not recommended for a relaxing break. Especially when housekeeping knock at 7.30am and you didnt get to sleep till gone 6............
“Not impressed”
The first room stank of stale smoke so was moved to room on 'M' floor, which was next to a Taxi rank so was kept awake all night by outside revellers. Moved back to the smelly smoky room (bought own air freshner) and had to suffer karaokee nights at the hotel; all in all I think I got about 4hours sleep (if I was lucky). This hotel was extremely noisy, therefore, I would not recommend anyone to stay here.
“Great location”
Adelphi is located within walking distance from all the main tourist attractions, and this plus the reasonable price make it worth recommending. The room we were staying at was clean and nice, but the temperature was changing during the night from being much too hot to being slightly too cold in the morning. Can't comment on food as didn't use the hotel facilities because of their price, but there are plenty of nice and cheap places to eat around. I would recommend the hotel for all those who come to Liverpool for just a couple of nights and don't want to pay a fortune or stay somewhere far from the town.
