Room great but shower didn't work

Pros: The room was small but the decor was lovely. Very well laid out.
Cons: Shower working Details of breakfast given.
Location: It was ideal for settling my son in to University of Liverpool and the city centre.
My booking wasn't there when I arrived. They eventually found my booking. I was given no details of times or where to go for breakfast and couldn't find these details in the room. When I complained that my shower hadn't worked ( cold water and no pressure) I was told I should have reported it at the time and someone would have come to fix it. There I am,a lady travelling alone and I'm likely to want a man in my tiny room at 7.30 am fixing my shower. I don't think so. After breakfast I tried again and the water was so hot I couldn't touch it. When I tried to adjust it, it was cold again. So very disappointing as everything else was fine.

Location: Great location. Walking distance from train and coach stations. The Christ the King Catherdral , Everyman. Phil pub, Phil Hall.
The Feathers is an old Liverpool institution. It's where couples had the first night after their wedding. It's where music stars used to stay, back in the day. I think the room they gave us had a bathroom going back to the 70's. The room was small, but comfortable, but the bathroom was awful, mouldy tiles, missing tiles, mouldy wind frame and a stain on the ceiling where there had been a leak. We stayed a couple of nights. The bar staff were great. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and well cooked.

Not what we had expected of a Best Western

Location: Liverpool is great. There's so much going for it and there are some great hotels - The Feathers is not one of them.
Access to the room we were given was via a dark, unwelcoming staircase to the second floor but we were optimistic that the room would be like the images we had seen on line - it wasn't. It was small and pokey. The beds were lumpy. The bathroom extract fan sounded like a Dakota in mid-flight, The tiling grout was discoloured in places and dirty in others. We had asked for early-morning calls and on the first day it never came. We complained saying that it was a good thing we didn't have a train to catch although we did need a call the next day to get to Lime Street Station by 8.00 am - We were promised that we would be woken up by 6.30 BUT once again the hotel let us down. Thanks to the alarm on my mobile we did catch the train. We won't be back to the Feathers again - not sure why it's got 3 stars.

well placed hotel for evening out

we opted for an evening out in Liverpool to consist of a meal, few drinks then in the morning a look round the shops. we chose best western because of the price, the fact that it had car parking and its location just a short walk out of the busy hub. hotel was fine room bit small but the worst thing was the shower..... very poor water output which made showering awkward... please invest in power showers

Good Place to stay

Pros: Clean and tidy with friendly staff and good food well presented.
Cons: Slow drainage in shower nearly caused flooding in bathroom. Suggest fall in pipework is insufficient.
Location: Didn't stay long enough to find out. Hotel seems to be in the university area of the city.
Arrived late and only stayed one night so didn't see much of the hotel. Staff were all friendly and efficient and hotel was clean tidy and presentable. Breakfast was comparable with any 4* hotel i have ever stayed in. Would definately recommend to anyone and would stay again.

Nice room, friendly staff. Close to city centre. Only thing I'd recommend is taking your own drinking wAter as there was none available in the room

Location: A bit further from town than we thought, but for one night it was ideal.
For one night this hotel was fine, very friendly staff. The hill back from town was a bit steep.

our room N. was small for 2 people and the window would not open so very little air in the room. the banister on the stairs was brooking so i told to someone at the desk but sill not fixed the next day ! And the bed where terrible !!!! alan

Potentially ok but poor experience

Very disappointing. The hotel is in a decent area and looks nice from the outside but inside conditions deteriorate. I stayed in one of their single rooms and it was a disgrace, I am amazed that they have the front to offer it as a room. The single rooms are the cheapest they offer so I wasn't expecting much but compared to similar hotels and prices of rooms this was outrageous. I marked the condition and comfort of the room low because the the shower leaked, the room was damp and there was no lighting outside the room making it hard to even see the room number in addition the heating had failed, they didn't fix it and the first person I spoke to was very unhelpful. I am sure most of their other rooms are fine but my experience was extremely poor and if they are willing to treat guests like that I will not stay there again on principle.
