A one night visit

Posted 14-Dec-2014
Pros: Its not to a formula, its in the city.
Cons: The car park is small. Local parking, even the multistory means you need to get up early to feed the meter, They need to get deal with multistory.
Location: LIVERPOOL. Its a great city
We were staying overnight in Liverpool for a ball at St Georges Hall. We had stayed here before so knew that the rooms in the hotel were on many levels and were not all the same and were not to a set formula . We booked a double room and got a room with 2 doubles and a single bed, a family room. No problem except which bed to choose! We went out to our ball, had a great night and came back. There was a Christmas party that night which we were warned about so only room service. No problem. Breakfast next morning was great. We spent more money in London 2 weeks ago and got a lot less.

Friendly hotel close to shops

Posted 12-Oct-2014
Pros: We liked the friendly staff and the fact that there was no noise from outside.
Cons: Having a fridge in the room would be good!
Location: Close to shops, theatres and art galleries.
Stayed here for 1 night at the weekend. Had a room overlooking the carpark at the back, so was very quiet. Room had a comfortable double bed and an ensuite shower room.

Room no bigger than size of a dirty shoe box!!!!!!

Posted 21-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Near to liverpool one and the university, thats where anything good continues. Shortly after arrival we decided to take pictures of the room conditions, dirty bedding, light fittings missing, paint hanging off bathroom ceiling, very rusty towel rail and mouldy shower cubicle. We were put in a top floor room which was so small, should of been a single not double room. We complained, but as the hotel was very busy,no other rooms available to change to. The girl on reception apologetic said we couldn't have a refund, we were not happy!! We were given a free drink voucher, we said this was not acceptable and would complain further. We went to collect our car key, (you pay extra to park your car there and they keep your key so they can move your car if they need to) they could not find our key!!! We waited more than 10 minutes and the staff had utter panic on there faces, after looking everywhere they found it behind the front desk, which was worrying as we only had one key with us, everyone else's key was labeled and put in a designated area..... Why was ours not with everyone else's, labeled! On our check out we spoke of our disgust of such a poor quality room and received a small refund, we were told its a grade 2 listed building and they are not perfect , the state of cleanliness and maintenance has nothing to do with listing of the building! We would not recommend this hotel to anyone, very old, needs updated and the staff need training in dealing in customer service.

Room great but shower didn't work

Posted 11-Sep-2014
Pros: The room was small but the decor was lovely. Very well laid out.
Cons: Shower working Details of breakfast given.
Location: It was ideal for settling my son in to University of Liverpool and the city centre.
My booking wasn't there when I arrived. They eventually found my booking. I was given no details of times or where to go for breakfast and couldn't find these details in the room. When I complained that my shower hadn't worked ( cold water and no pressure) I was told I should have reported it at the time and someone would have come to fix it. There I am,a lady travelling alone and I'm likely to want a man in my tiny room at 7.30 am fixing my shower. I don't think so. After breakfast I tried again and the water was so hot I couldn't touch it. When I tried to adjust it, it was cold again. So very disappointing as everything else was fine.

Great location , shame about the shabby bathroom

Posted 31-Aug-2014
Pros: Breakfast and the staff.
Cons: The bathroom in room 3 needs an urgent make over
Location: Great location. Walking distance from train and coach stations. The Christ the King Catherdral , Everyman. Phil pub, Phil Hall.
The Feathers is an old Liverpool institution. It's where couples had the first night after their wedding. It's where music stars used to stay, back in the day. I think the room they gave us had a bathroom going back to the 70's. The room was small, but comfortable, but the bathroom was awful, mouldy tiles, missing tiles, mouldy wind frame and a stain on the ceiling where there had been a leak. We stayed a couple of nights. The bar staff were great. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and well cooked.

Not what we had expected of a Best Western

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: Not a lot
Cons: See above
Location: Liverpool is great. There's so much going for it and there are some great hotels - The Feathers is not one of them.
Access to the room we were given was via a dark, unwelcoming staircase to the second floor but we were optimistic that the room would be like the images we had seen on line - it wasn't. It was small and pokey. The beds were lumpy. The bathroom extract fan sounded like a Dakota in mid-flight, The tiling grout was discoloured in places and dirty in others. We had asked for early-morning calls and on the first day it never came. We complained saying that it was a good thing we didn't have a train to catch although we did need a call the next day to get to Lime Street Station by 8.00 am - We were promised that we would be woken up by 6.30 BUT once again the hotel let us down. Thanks to the alarm on my mobile we did catch the train. We won't be back to the Feathers again - not sure why it's got 3 stars.

well placed hotel for evening out

Posted 10-Aug-2014
we opted for an evening out in Liverpool to consist of a meal, few drinks then in the morning a look round the shops. we chose best western because of the price, the fact that it had car parking and its location just a short walk out of the busy hub. hotel was fine room bit small but the worst thing was the shower..... very poor water output which made showering awkward... please invest in power showers

Good Place to stay

Posted 07-Aug-2014
Pros: Clean and tidy with friendly staff and good food well presented.
Cons: Slow drainage in shower nearly caused flooding in bathroom. Suggest fall in pipework is insufficient.
Location: Didn't stay long enough to find out. Hotel seems to be in the university area of the city.
Arrived late and only stayed one night so didn't see much of the hotel. Staff were all friendly and efficient and hotel was clean tidy and presentable. Breakfast was comparable with any 4* hotel i have ever stayed in. Would definately recommend to anyone and would stay again.
