“brillian location by a great beach”

Hotel is good value for money. The breakfasts are buffet style and plentiful and lots of choice. The hotel is a bit basic, lacks character and the staff are a bit cool but the fact that it is across the road from the beach and the train station is a big plus. Estoril itself is a bit short on places to eat/things to do and it is dominated by the Casino but given that Cascais is only a 15mins walk away along the seafront then not a problem and there are lots of little cafes and restaurants along the way. All in all I would recommend Estoril and the hotel. The hotel has a small pool which again is a bit basic but given closeness to the beach didn't really matter. Personally I think the beach in Estoril is nicer too and alot quieter.

Getting there

GEtting there is easy enough - we took the aerobus from lisbon airport down to the train station at Cais do Sodre then the local train through to Estoril. All very easy and cheap - language is a bit difficult but even if no English is spoken I found that everyone made an effort to understand my mix of Portugues and English. The hotel is a 5 mins walk from the station so no taxi required either.

“Spoiled by disco noise”

Nice hotel, situated overlooking the sea and near the Estoril Casino with its parks. Very near the station where one can go to Cascais or Lisbon by local trains very cheaply. But there is an all night disco over the road and the rooms at the front suffer from that noise. Rooms at the back do not get this noise and overlook partly the Casino park and another hotel's swimming pool which is fine. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast .

Area recommendations

Cascais is about 3 km further along the coast in a bay and is a really nice place with lots of restaurants, markets and pedestrianiced streets. In restaurants one can get fresh sardines, other fish and seafood agt reasonable prices.If you have time catch a local bus to Sintra up in the mountains with old palaces and mountain villas. Lisbon can be reached by local train in half an hour. You could get off first at Belem where there are many displayes of Portuguese seafearing history.

Getting around

Local busses and trains are excellent.

“Very nice hotel at reasonable cost would go certainly go back”

A nice hotel with very friendly helpful and attentive staff. I arrived very late but this was not a problem and similarly my early departure was not a problem either. There is enclosed car parking which was helpful. The room was a good size quiet and clean with a nice view of the sea. Only a short walk to the beautiful promenade and 10 or 15 minutes pleasant walk along the shore to the harbour with many nice restaurants. Breakfast buffet excellent. I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to others.

“BEEN THREE TIMES BEFORE”

CASCAIS - OODLES OF GOOD RESTAURANTS. WALKABLE ALONG PROMENADE(2 KM) OR CHEAP TRAIN WHICH RUNS UNTIL 2 AM. LISBON ONLY 30 MINUTES AWAY ON TRAIN (CHEAP IF OAP!) ESTORIL HAS HUGE CASINO WITH A VARIETY OF RESTAURANTS, SHOWS, GAMBLING ETC.

“Great location but some drawbacks”

This s the second time that five of us have stated at this Hotel. While it has been refurbished since we were last there some things were not so good The beds were very uncomfortable and for about half our stay the air conditioner did not work properly and the staff did not sort the problem. Rooms directly over the Piccadilly bar next door benefit from music until past 2 in the morning on Saturday night. The location is great, however, and the breakfast is good. The pool is also good with plenty of room. Worth it if you can get a deal but not if you have to pay top whack.

Vist the restuarant Azimut on the promenade toward Cascais. Good food and relaxing view.

“Good value hotel”

Good thing about the hotel was its proximity to Estoril station (about 200 yards across the main road) with a frequent and cheap service to Cascais (2 stops - end of line) and to Lisbon. Good bar in the hotel with large screen supplied for Champions League football and the US Masters golf - prices reasonable. Plenty of restaurants nearby as well as Estoril Casino and the main beach can be accessed at the end of the station. Could have done with a more varied breakfast menu but the quality was fine. Swimming pool looked OK but did not have time to make use of it. If you are in a small party, the hotel can arrange transport from the airport. All in all, I found the hotel to be very satisfactory and would certainly recommend it to others.

Area recommendations

Cascais is an excellent shopping centre with a small beach and a harbour and is quite lively in the evening. Lisbon is easily accessible by train and the return fare is extremely reasonable. Being a capital city there is lots to see and do there.

“Lived up to the review ratings”

Hotel was exactly as the other reviewers described- clean, great service, excellent breakfast, excellent location. The only downside are the extras - the buffet dinner, which was great, was vey expensive at 20 euros (excluding drinks - not even complimenary water). There was a small, basic gym - which was great to have - bbut there was a charge of 7.50 Euros per day for the use of this, which is excessive for hotel guests - this should be included in a four star hotel.

The walk along the beach to Cascais is lovely, and Cascais is worth the visit.

“Great location”

Lovely view over the park, and very near the station for day trips to Lisbon, Belem, Cascais. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Excellent food in tasteful surroundings at very reasonable prices in the Steak loungue attached to the hotel.
