“Will return with my family.... (on business this visit.)”
I loved the hotel/palace! The setting and atmosphere were outstanding and I felt like royalty. The pool - inside one this time of year - was spacious and inviting. The outside area looks outstanding so I will return in a warmer time of the year, although it was quite nice high 60's in late November and trees still were blooming....
“5* building, disappointing service”
Service: This beautiful hotel is let down by poor and surly service and lack of attention to detail. We stayed 3 nights. Impossible to get coffee at breakfast or additional cutlery. Pretty pool, but a battle for loungers & no help with finding/ moving lougers, towels were given out reluctantly & catching the eye of the bar staff to bring drinks was a drawn out game of tactics. My husband asked if he could sit quietly in the bar to watch England rugby one morning so as not to disturb me and they refused stating it was closed. They were most unhelpful in finding an alternative location. There were one or two excellent members of staff, particularly the doormen, but they were the minority. Room: Based in two adjoining 3 storey modern blocks, not in the main hotel, our block was set down a level lower than the gardens. Very comfortable but rooms are dark and there is inadequate lighting. There was no net curtain to provide any privacy for the room which was directly overlooked by the gardens and the breakfast room. One evening I emerged from the bath to find all of the 4 towels had been removed and not replaced. I had to wait 10 minutes from calling soaking wet, only to have just one towel brought! We had to request towels for my husband again. Other minor issues, glasses missing etc. Having recently returned from the superb 5* Sheraton at Krabi Thailand, the service at the beautiful Pestana Palace was extremely disappointing and a marked contrast.
“Conservative elegance”
Perfect service, great location, beautiful garden. Distance to attractions: about 5 EUR to Belem, 5 EUR to downtown, Nice place to stay.
“an oasis in the city”
This Hotel is really a palace. It is an oasis in the city and has much to offer the sophisticated traveller. the service and food were excellent. You have no worries here.
“Tranquil and elegant.”
As a solo traveller I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable at the hotel. Excellent and charming service. A lovely hotel with beautiful grounds and a delightful outdoor swimming pool. A calm and tranquil stay. The food in the pool restaurant is limited and would benefit from more salad options.
“Pestina is the best Lisbon has to offer”
We were thoroughly thrilled with our stay and want to go back to Lisbon just to stay at this hotel. Our car rental service told us Pestina's was the best hotel in the city, even better than the Ritz and we agree with him. The service was the best we have ever experienced, bar none! The palace and grounds were absolutely beautiful and a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle. The decor, antiques were stunning. The food in the restaurant was pricey but five star all the way! We would recommend this to anyone and definitely plan to be back
“A beautiful hotel”
The Pestana Palace is a modern hotel tastefully joined to the wonderful historic palace. Rooms are comfortable, but the bathrooms a bit dated. Cuisine in the restaurant is top class. The grounds are beautiful. the only drawback is the location, but taxis are cheap and plentiful.
“A hotel to Remember”
A BRILLIANT HOTEL COUPLED WITH A BRILLIANT CITY. A TRIP TO REMEMBER AND ONE TO RETURN TO.
“Beautiful hotel but food overpriced”
Went there for my 50th was initially aliitle upset as we paid extra for a upgraded room and had a tree blocking the window so no view really and also not much natural light. I requested amove but was told it wasnot possible until 2 days later but then heard no more. However just decided to enjoy holiday and get on with it. Breakfast aliitle disappointing but then I am a very fussy vegetarian. Ate in the restaurant only once but it is extremely expensive so ate out after that but there are lots of lovely restaurants to enjoy. Pool is amazing and had a massage and facila which was brilliant. Used the shuttle bus to get into Lisbon and then cabbed it back later
“Pestana's one of the best”
The Pestana Palace is without doubt a fabulous hotel. All the staff were extremely friendly and very polite, they went out of their way to help you. I cannot fault our stay at the Pestana in anyway. Although it is on the outskirts of Lisbon it was easy to get to the centre via trolley bus just outside the Hotel or taxi which is only 6 euros. Breakfasts were superb and had everything you should want,. We ate in the restaurant only once which is graded one of the top ten in Lisbon, it was fairly expensive but also excellent. I cannot fault the whole experence in anyway.
