We are frequent traveler and the hotel we have booked with Expedia have provided excellent service. This was not the case with the Marriott.Upon arrival we were not welcomed enthusiastically by the front desk. Ricardo was very clear clearly that check in was not until 4:00. We were aware and only wanted to drop our luggage. We left the hotel and returned at 6:00pm. Had to wait 32 minutes to check in. When we entered the room, the smell of cigar was intense. I informed the reception but she claimed it was a “non-smoking hotel.” As we walked out, I spoke to Anna Laura who spoke to her manager and said that housekeeping would take care of it. That did not happen.
During the next four days, the only thing that was clean was the sink and shower. We made our own beds. We were given a wine bottle, wine cooler and wine glasses for the troubles we experienced and everything was left in the room until the day we left. Same thing happened with the water glasses. A cleaning supply was left in the sink.
The rug in the room was dirty and there were no towels or lounge chairs available at the pool. That is besides the fact that it closed at 8:00pm. We were overcharged city taxes. Our receipt stated $24.00 euros but our debit account was charge 54.99. I reached out to Ms. Cascalho the guest relation agent on Monday, August 14th and have not received a response. Power outage and no electric plant. Unfortunately, the service provided was poor and customer service needs to improve.
