“Clean and OK for a night - a bit far from things & questionable area at night”
Hotel staff was really great. Everyone I had contact with worked hard to provide really great service. Room was small but clean and bed was comfortable. TV was very small although I wasn't there enough to care much about TV. Location was fine during the day but when I came back around 1:00 in the morning I am pretty sure there were prostitutes working the corner.
“Good choice”
Hotel is good, reception desk is great. They know everything about Lisbon and explain it patiently in any language at any time
“4 Perfect Days in Lisbon.”
Hotel Vip is within 10 minutes walking distance of Rossi Square, has 2 nearby coffee bars and a Supermarket, literally yards away. I did not have breakfast always preferring to go native to a particular square or venue. The breakfast and facilities on offer at the Hotel looked great and the Dining Room was spacious. The room quality was top marks, the bathroom excellent - bidet as well as loo -- and the cleanliness excellent. Air conditioning and excellent double glazing - street noise only being apparent should one open the window. Gentle and attentive staff - welcoming and professional - taxi ordered by them for my return to the Airport. Lisbon is a BEAUTIFUL city - easy and unhurried. The National Art Gallery and the Gulbenkian are must-sees. Lisbon remains very inexpensive. Should you wish to eat to remember, book the Gambrinus for lunch at, say, 12:30 in the afternoon and enjoy a couple of hours of style, good manners and fabulous food - I went for the Spit Fish - essentially fish on a kebab with a side salad. DELICIOUS ... and perfect with the house white. NOT outrageously expensive and certainly well under half the price one would pay in London if one could even match the quality.
“Very helpful staff”
Hotel was approx 15 minutes walk from the centre of Lisbon. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful; they mercifully spoke perfect English. We were given a map of the city with directions into town on it, and generally throughout the stay they couldn't do enough to help us. It was just as I'd hoped; I wasn't expecting to spend a lot of time there and it served as a very functional base. Would definitely use it again.
“Nice hotel, helpful staff”
Nice hotel close to Marques de Pombal. Useful location, not close, but close enough for a 10 to 15 minute walk. Very helpful staff.
“Pleasant stay”
Hotel is on relatively good location. Hotel is very clean and it's pretty much new inventory. Walls are a thin, so you can hear whats happening in the surrounding rooms. Staff is helpful. Internet is 10 euros for 24 hours. It's five minutes away from subway. Taxi from airport is 8 euros with luggage charge. By the way, there is no good restaurant in Portugal. Everywhere they have only lousy food, and everything i ate is very very low quality. Give up from finding good food in Portugal.
“Recommended city break”
Public transportation is good and a Lisbon Viva card proved good value, easy to use and is applicable to metro, trams and buses, all essential given the diverse location of tourist sites and the very hilly nature of the city.
“Good deal”
We stayed at the VIP Madrid for three nights. Staff was helpful and friendly, rooms clean and cozy. Location is pretty nice, it is a few minutes walk to Marques De Pombal square. Neighbourhood is mainly residential though, so there is nothing much going on in the evenings. Overall I would recommend VIP Madrid to almost anyone except if your looking for busy and bustling surroundings. Definitely worth cheking out.
“Great Hotel/Location/Staff”
I was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. I was initially given a smaller room, but when asked for something higher up and with a double bed, I was moved the next day to a really great room. Very comfy bed, if you like them hard! A few doors down is a great place for lunch - fresh fish (huge sardines, grilled - brilliant). Easy walk to main shopping areas and to Metro station.
“Would Use Again”
Our party of eight mature gentlemen had no complaints about this hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not cheap but not excessively expensive and was of a high standard with lots of choice - something for everyone. Rooms were clean and comfortable but lacked tea/coffee making facilities. Location was good - not town centre but within 5 minutes walk of Marques de Pombal Metro and 20/30 minutes of main city area. Would certainly consider using this hotel again if visiting Lisbon in the future.
