“Not sensibly managed”
In the past many years, I have always been given two door cards (Keys) at request when check-in. Unfortunately, this time the same requested was turned down. The front desk staff said that their computer system could not provide a second key. As my suite is supposed to sleep 4 persons, such new rule is insensitive and caused undue inconvenience. The manager responsible for house keeping is incompetent in that he failed to ensure things are in order before new houseguest checks in, e.g. the air conditioner is working, the aged pillows are replaced, etc. As we (2) were staying for six days, we have to pay 10 euro for 24 hours internet connection. Lots of hotels over the world would have waived such charge, esp. if a guest is occupying an executive suite and staying for more than a couple of days. More provisions like washing up liquid, kitchen paper/towel, coffee/tea bags should be provided in suite with kitchen.
“Loved Lisbon, not the hotel”
The rooms in this hotel are in need of some serious upkeep. Our room was very spacious but in very poor condition. There was a hole in the wall, the microwave didn't work, a section of carpet had been cut out and we didn't have a doorknob on the door to get out! The front desk was aware of the broken doorknob and that it was very difficult to leave the room, but nothing was done. The location is wonderful- a block to the main square and many excellent restaurants. Very close to Rossio train station for trips to Sintra. The rooftop pool at the hotel was great with amazing views.
“Great location in central Lisbon”
The hotel has a roof terrace with fabulous views where you can have a swim followed by a buffet breakfast. The rooms were clean and comfortable - there was enough room, the beds and pillows were ok and the shower was good. The only downside was that in early May it was hot and stuffy at night even with the windows open - the aircon isn't turned on until later in the year. As the hotel is in the centre there's quite a lot of traffic and people noise till late. Lisbon is a beautiful city with lots to see and do, friendly people and plenty of restaurants within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. We especially enjoyed the tropical gardens in the Parque Eduardo VII. But watch out for pickpockets - we were targeted twice during our 2 day stay.
“Fancy internet pictures shabby reality”
I was very dissappointed with this hotel. By the looks of the pictures, it looked sharp but the reality was different. Very dark hallways, that were dangerous. I didn't realize we had to flip a light switch until we made our way through long dark corridors. Even then the lights on showed the shabbiness of the place. Like an old forgotten movie theater. Worn old looking and feeling sheets, small hard bed, flimsy coverlets. Ugh!!!
“Portugal Spain”
Excellent Hotel
“VIP suites”
Great location for the city centre, and also just over the road from the Hard Rock Cafe, metro station right outside also, if there are four of you though taxi is the best way to travel but all day metro and bus pass was four euro's, only down side was it is next door to the unemployment/benefits office, the queue was directly past the front door of the hotel. Lisbon is a great place but there are many many homeless and beggars on the streets, Street peddlers, buy a pair of sunglasses for the least price possible then put them on your head, you never get any more hassle. Never going back though as we've been twice and watched Everton lose twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Good hotel, but overpriced”
Good hotel, but it is only 3 star hotel, so I think it is overpriced
“Best location in town”
This hotel is a little tired around the edges. It is clean but the wall paper in the rooms is torn and things need some mantenance. That being said, I would go back again for the location. It is a half block from the train station and a block from the main square with the trollies, restaurants etc. Also, the tourist info office is two doors away. The staff was OK but did not go out of their way to be helpful. Don't bother with the expensive hotel breakfast. There are wonderful outdoor cafes just steps away.
“Seen better days”
This hotel met our needs but is obviously not being maintained adequately. The furnishings need to be updated and even the linens are quite tired. The location is good. The breakfasts are quite overpriced. The staff seems vaguely annoyed by the guests most of the time.
“Great location and great room!”
The hotel was in a great location close to everything. We could walk to Bairro Alto and all the Plaza's and take the train to Belem. The room had a well equipped kitchen and there was a grocery store about 100 yards away which saved us some money. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Lisboa.
