“Good value for money”
We stayed at the Alvorada for 4 nights for an autumn break. We did not go for the gambling although some people did as it is directly opposite the Casino in Estoril. It is a very well appointed hotel in any event for the rail line to Lisbon (35 minutes) and Caiscais (5 minutes). The railway station is a 10 minute pleasant walk through the gardens. The hotel staff are very accommodating and the breakfast was a godsend as we did not have to go out to hunt for food. It consisted of scrambled eggs, frankfurters, croissants, bread for toasting, jams and yoghurts and cereals, certainly adequate to start the day. The bar staff were smiley and helpful and there were enough restaurants in the local area for dinner. Our room and bathroom were large. We also had a large balcony with a side view of the sea glimpsed between the buildings in the area. The bathroom had a bath and hand held shower above. All in all it was not a disappointment although the only negative we can think of is the comfort of the bed. We had twins pushed together so plenty of room width-wise but the mattresses were not overly comfortable. They were a bit "springy" and we had a bit of backache after the first night although I would not want to put people off because of that as it was a very good hotel otherwise and certainly excellent value for money. If they installed new mattresses it would probably go up a star!
“Great value 3 star hotel”
This is our third stay at this friendly convenient hotel so that in itself must be a positive recommendation. The air conditioned rooms are large and comfortable with balconies and ours benefitted from an updated bathhroom suite.Although in close proximity to the Casino we experienced no noise problems due to the effective double glazing and it was a delight to venture out on the balcony first thing in the morning sun! The breakfast is somewhat dissapointing but at least is something to start the day and the downstairs lounge area could be more inviting and would benefit from an upgrade. All in all this is a reasonably priced hotel in a convenient location and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
“Impressed”
The best part of the hotel is the location. It's 10 minutes walk from the beach and train station. From the beach you can walk along the boulevard to Cascais, a very pleasant 20 minute walk. The train is very reasonably priced and will take you to Lisbon within 30 minutes. The hotel is clean and comfortable, staff is very friendly. We had a great vacation!
“Excellent Value Hotel in Estoril!”
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. One of the reasons we went back there is that the buffet breakfast is included in the price. Also, because my partner's 11 year old son accompanied us and there was an extra bed for him in our double room. It has a superb view of Casino Estoril (the largest casino in Europe), and sitting on the balcony in the evenings I felt just like James Bond! Futhermore the beach is only five minutes walk away. Can't wait to go again.
“WILL BE BACK”
IDEAL POSISTION OPP.CASINO AND 5 MINS. FROM BEACH.PLENTY OF RESTRAUNTS WHITHIN 10 MINS.WALK.
“Small but excellent”
Although the room I was given was small, even by European standards, the hotel was overall excellent in all respects. Clean, friendly staff, quiet and resonably good breakfast. As I was alone and used the room only for sleeping, its small size was not a major issue. From what I can see from floor plans, most other rooms are significantly larger.
“GOING BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR!!!”
POLIOTE AND FRIENDLY STAFF MAKE YOU WANT TO GO BACK. THE ROOIMS WERE GREAT AND THE BREAKFAST(MUCH MALIGNED IN PREVIOUS REVIEWS), WAS EXCELLENT LOCATION GREAT FOR ACCESS TO THE BEACH AND STATION TO BOTH CASCAIS AND LISBON. RESTAURANTS ON YOUR DOORSTEP.
“no where near Lisbon but great.”
Lisbon airport has a bus service right outside the terminal for the city centre, get on that 3 euros and get off at cais de sorde train station the last stop. catch train to Estoril 2 euros 45 mins to stop well sign posted. Cannot miss Casino up hill hotel to the left 5 mins walk ,easy.
“Helpful staff”
Staff at Hotel Alvorada was very informative and helpful. Good advice on shopping and places of interest. However, the housekeeping was atrocious. Sheets and pillow cases were never changed. That was the only blemish in a well spent vacation. Would go back whenever in Estoril.
“Love casino therefore love this hotel.”
Estoril quiet but within easy distance of everywhere. Hotel as good as expected from past reviews, room huge and lovely overlooking casino exactly as stated. Breakfast pretty basic, mainly continental but value for money very good, no evening meal available but if you choose carefully food available nearby. Personally, the casino was all the entertainment we required in the evening as live music all over the weekend and literally only a hundred yards away. Walking along the promenade if the weather permits is magic if you enjoy fresh air and the sound of breaking waves which we certainly enjoyed everyday. If you have cases and walk from station much easier if you walk through park as cobbles difficult for case wheels but easy through the park grounds. Would I go again, absolutely, only hope not too many people book up at the same time.
