I visited pengha longa for a holiday of relaxation and exploration. From the outset, I was treated with the greatest hospitality from the reception staff to the housekeepers. This is a hotel that surpasses expectation. Clean, efficient and amazing. The choice of restaurants is fantastic with the tapas Arola - top of the list. There is a choice of three swimming pools, jacuzzi, sauna, gym as well as a spa and golf course. I was in easy reach of the local culture with Sintra a mere taxi ride and Lisbon - a short train journey along the beautiful Atlantic Coast. This was my first visit to Portugal and I have now been spoilt by Pengha Longa. I will be back.
We have stayed here three times now and would recommend it to anybody wishing to have clean, comfortable accommodation within easy walking distance of central Lisbon. Great breakfast and helpful staff.
We love Portugal but have only visited the Algarve, so we looked at Cascais and selected the Quinta da Marinha from other reviews. It was a little tricky to find as it is tucked away in a residential area about 10 mins from the town centre, so a car is essential. On arrival we were directed to another reception building as we had booked in to a villa and after another trip around we eventually arrived at our ultimate destination the Onyria Hotel (all a bit confusing). Nevertheless, we settled in, our villa was two bedroomed on two levels, with 3 shower/bathrooms. The facilities were all that we expect from a 5 star resort, with the 26th rated golf course in mainland Europe, so all very acceptable. The staff were exceptional, very friendly, all spoke very good English. The breakfast was fantastic, and the restaurant converted into a very good Italian in the evenings. There is also a separate seafood restaurant (Monte Mar) which is a short mini bus drive away (hotel provided) which is outstanding. All in all, we were so impressed that we scraped our intended trip in to Lisbon as we were enjoying ourselves so much. If you want a break from the Algarve, give this a go, you will not be disappointed.
We stayed with our 8month old baby daughter here for 5 days on a B&B basis in late October. Staff at check in were very friendly and professional and we were upgraded to a suite which was very spacious and well appointed. They were also particularly helpful in arranging a surprise cake for my wife as it was our wedding anniversary and assisting us fix a problem with our airport transfer. Across the whole stay we felt the staff struck the perfect balance between being friendly and professional. The hotel itself is to a high standard and has an amazing view out to sea from the restaurant terrace. The pool is idyllic and was never too busy though this may have reflected the time of our visit. The breakfast options were excellent and of a very high standard, though if you're used to All Inclusive resorts it might seem a bit limited. There was the usual continental meats and cheeses, bread, cakes and pastries, a variety of tasty hot dishes and fruits etc . There was very good quality sparkling wine available and the facilities to make your own Bloody Mary. You could sit in or outside by the pool. The spa facilities were excellent and we both had a treatment which was reasonably priced. There were a couple of quibbles as you get on any holiday but nothing that affected our stay or enjoyment.
