“Absolutely Terrific!”

Large, spacious and comfortable room (superior double) with stunning views of the plaza from all three windows. Central locvation made strolling and walking to major tourist sites easy and delightful. Complementary breakfasts, which included something for every palate, were an added plus. I strongly recommend this hotel.

“Avenida Palace is my home in Lisbon”

Very elegant old fashion decoration. The staff are very helpful and warm, some of them remembered me when I stayed in the hotel almost two years ago.

“Great Location. Great Staff”

I stayed at the Avenida Palace in September 2011. The decor of the hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable. Staff could not have been more helpful with giving advice on transport and helping with bags. This hotel definitely has the feeling of a boutique hotel rather than the major chain hotels. Felt like I was at home. Would definitely stay there again. Walking distance to the old part of town or a quick taxi ride or tram ride to other sites like the Castle or Belem. Loads of restaurants around. Suitable for single women travelling alone.

Area recommendations
$8 in a taxi to Belem is great. $6 cab to Lago Graco and then walk to the castle, around the castle and down through Alfama. Walk to Chiado and various sites there. You can get a free shuttle to Freeport, the Premium outlet store but it is not as good as the American Outlet stores. Wouldn't go to the outlet stores again.

“A traditional gem.”

Efficient and friendly service. A very elegant and comfortable hotel in the centre of Lisbon. It has the charm of a traditional building with very high ceilings, large reception rooms and a beautiful staircase. Generous and good quality breakfast buffet served in a superb room with lovely views onto the Av. da Liberdade.

“Unforgettable Avenida Palace.”

The Avenida Palace has got a great location if you` re there for business as I was. Parking is free and they take care of your car which is wonderful because parking rates are huge there. The hotel atmosphere is sophisticated. Service is both friendly and respectful. I stayed in a rather nice and comfortable room with a view to the main square. No noise at all. Very good breakfast in a dazzling room and a reasonable price for all you get.

“A beautiful classic stile hotel in an excellent location”

Avenida palace is elegant, classic stile decorated hotel with great central location. Gorgeus lobby bar and entrance hall. Ours twin room was very spacious with charming interior and entirely marble bath. Good sound insulation from main square below. The breakfast (which was served in the fantastic dinning room) was buffet-style and had a great selection. High quality service, polite and helpful staff on the front desk. This hotel was everything we had hoped it would be, we were delighted!

There are dood small and cheap restaurants on the Rua Portas S. Antao ( opposite the Avenida hotel, just behind Praca dos Restauradores. A lot of cheap restaurants - there are also around Sao Miguel in Alfama district
Nightlife
If you like life music a night in fado restaurant Senior Vinho ( in Lapa district) will be great pleasure - fantastic singers!

“Would go back tomorrow!”

My husband and I travel extensively and this is definitely one of the best hotels in which we have stayed! It is centrally located : all important sites are within walking distance. There is a subway station in the same block. There is a train station right next door that will take you to nearby attractions like Sintra. The buses leave from a square which is one block away. The hotel has all the charm of old style Europe with all the comfort of modern hotels. Service is very efficient and friendly. Breakfasts are delicious. We will surely use it again when we go back to Lisbon!

Area recommendations
Rossio, Chiado and Baixa. Best retaurants and stores. Great ambiance!
When to go
Go in June or September, to avoid the crowds but still get the feel of summer!

“Elegant!”

This hotel was absolutely beautiful! Elegant truly describes it. Breakfast was abundant and delicious! We stayed one night and had to catch a flight in the morning. Wish we could have stayed longer. Service was outstanding.
