Regarding our one night stay Stoke Rochford Hall: Thursday 8th September Upon check-in; reception staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful in directing us to our room and taking payment. Making our way to our room, number 46, we were disappointed to be greeted with painters and decorators in the unkempt corridors and rooms leading to ours however, we accepted this was part of the hotel upkeep. As we had a wedding to attend that evening we left promptly and returned to our room from our evening out, around midnight, to discover there was no hot water for a shower or bath. We left the water running to allow chance for it to heat up however, not even warm water was coming through at this point, it was stone cold. Reception was contacted by ourselves at this point. Two members of staff attended the room shortly after and agreed there was no hot water. A change of room was offered but at this point I was already upset that I could not have a shower and i was in bed due to the late hour. As well as this, our bags were unpacked all around the room. I felt like our extremely rare night away had been spoilt and I became very upset. Waking up the next morning to decorators in near by rooms to again discover there was no hot water. There was no hot water for a bath, shower or to the sink. I felt dirty and disappointed leaving the room. I approached reception to check out. I explained what had happened and no apology was given by the receptionist. She stated that we ‘didn’t

I was kept awake all night by a humming noise,emanating from another stable block room.I walked over to the main house at 1:30am to report the issue to the night porter,who returned to my room 17...to identify the cause...He confirmed he could hear the noise and suggested it was "The boiler"...11seconds silence 5 seconds hum.I counted these intervals throughout that night. I consequently had a very,very disturbed night. I reported the issue in the morning before breakfast to the receptionist and ask to see the manager...he was not available 9:30am..I was given his email address. In addition to my disturbed night in room 17...There was no soap or shower gel made available !.

The property is a magnificent building when viewed externally. However, whilst there was also some splendour internally, especially some ceilings in the main public rooms, generally the interior was "tired".It needs a large injection of cash to bring it up to scratch. Only stayed one night, to break a journey. Lovely grounds and the evening dinner, from the limited choice Sunday menu, was well cooked and presented. However, the waiting staff at dinner and breakfast need some training on how to welcome and assist guests. Proactive, rather than reactive. We were up-graded from a courtyard room to the main house. We were left wondering if the courtyard room would actually have been better. e.g. no toilet roll holder, so the rolls were out of easy reach on top of the cistern. A convenient place to stay when breaking a journey but, not somewhere to take a holiday. A reasonable price when compared with other hotels and, it is appreciated that this is part of a vicious circle of low price but insufficient income to make improvements

Beautiful grand hotel
Really beautiful old manor house. Gorgeous grounds. Really great location. The room was comfortable and in keeping with the hotel style. The bed was not the best but was comfortable enough. There were a few niggles around the room but these were minor and didnt affect our stay. A little more care with the cleaning wouldake a big difference but the room was clean enough (for example we found parts of a broken necklace under the dressing table). We found the staff polite and friendly. The breakfast was fine, the food was hot and there was a choice of hot buffet or cold options. The breakfast room is lovely and well decorated. We didnt eat dinner at the hotel as we were told only a limited bar menu was available. There are plenty of places nearby in Grantham to eat though so this wasnt a problem for us.

We only stayed overnight whilst traveling north, and it was a chance to stay somewhere interesting instead of the usual travel inns. But so did not have time to use any facilities as we had to journey onwards. Would have liked a normal window in my room to see out of, but as we were in the stable block (where the rooms were small but comfortable) where we only had a velux window It was exceptionally hot whilst we were there but luckily the room did not overheat. The breakfast was good and we certainly had a choice and enough to eat. The room was great for an overnight stay but would like something larger if staying for longer. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel and grounds were beautiful. It was a shame the carpets throughout were dirty and not hoovered. The bins weren’t emptied during our 3 night stay and tea/coffee/milk/cups weren’t replenished at all. We took our dog, but we had to eat separately in the bar area, rather than the restaurant so maybe this could be advertised. The breakfast was amazing and the staff were courteous and helpful

Read before you book!
Amazing settings but! Our room was on floor 2, equivalent to a normal 4th or 5th floor and the lifts didn’t work. The room was dated, toilet paper was the cheapest nastiest you could find. toilet seat was mounted pissed, didn’t flush properly. Hot tap dripped continuously and the plug wasn’t attached to the chain so had to get extracted with scissors I had in my bag. The headboard was either missing or what was there was a joke. The room was stuffy and hot, radiators were on. There was only a small window which I had to open in the early hours to let some heat out and get some air in. I’m sure that with the Art Deco feel about it the room would have been great in the 1920’s or 30’s; but this was 2021 and I was paying over £150 for the 1 night! Air con was really a must and I didn’t sleep well if at all. I had booked an evening meal in the restaurant, the room was wonderful but service indifferent. The choices were small but food was fine. Had to ask for a wine list which when it arrived was like something quickly knockout on an old typewriter and I had finished my 1st course before the wine arrived. I was glad Not to be staying a 2nd night.

The house and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. It was easy to find and lots of parking available. We paid £100 for a small room (in stables). It was dusty and curtains were mouldy, there was no wifi and no mobile phone signal. They did, however, accommodate my request for a ground floor room due to limited mobility. Unfortunately, we discovered this after dinner which was 11pm at night and I couldn’t bring myself to March back round to reception in the main house. Dinner service was a little pricey but good and the food was tasty and well presented. On check in we were told breakfast was from 7am, later found out it was from 8am. After much negotiation, they offered us a earlier continental break from 7am but I was disappointed I had to complain to get this. Thankfully, the quality and service the following morning was very good. In the morning I discovered it was impossible to shower without flooding the bathroom as the shower curtain was mounted well outside the tray.

The hotel was quiet and not many staff working. Carpets were dirty for days without being vacuumed. Staff were polite but didn't go out there way to give assistance. My husband uses a walking stick and I was left with the bags to carry up to our room as there was no lift or porter service.

Good stay but not without issues!
We were upgraded to a mansion room but the bathroom had human hair on the floor (not cleaned properly) so we complained and were upgraded to the Oakham suite which was lovely (and clean) To be honest this hotel has the potential to be a true 4* hotel but is looking rather tired and in need of a bit of tlc. The breakfast was great and the staff attentive. Somewhat surprised to find the bar had no port and only instant decaf coffee

Edwardian estate harks back to Downton Style
A beautiful building with a great history, maintained in its Victorian and Edwardian styles, don't expect chic boutique, more opulent turn of the century. Pricing is fantastic too

Really disappointed about our stay here. We had 2 rooms and the room our daughter had didn't even have a window very poor lighting for getting ready for the wedding we was attending. There was no heating as it had broken down which made the day very cold and uncomfortable for the wedding party. The rooms really need updating and new mattresses as the bed are dreadful. Sorry for the negative points but really disappointed with our stay.

Pleasant stay in beautiful surroundings!
Only had a 1 night stay but enjoyed our night there. Lovely surroundings. Room had everything we needed, was warm and seemed clean to us. Shower was powerful and hot. Service was good and the bar area was nice for an evening drink. Would happily stay there again!

We have stayed at Stoke Rochford Hall on numerous occasions. Richard who is in charge of reception was very polite and made us feel very welcome. We had to keep waiting for the batman to get drinks as he kept disappearing. The huge fires that we enjoy were not lit and when I enquired as you why the answer was there was no logs (it was the coldest and windiest day of the year). The food was good; however, it was a little pricey for the main. The lift wasn’t working which was a problem as I suffer with a back problem. All in all it wasn’t our best stay but it will not put us off in future as it’s a beautiful building and definitely worth the money.

This is a magnificent building desperately in need of serious investment. Staffing needs to be increased significantly although the existing staff do their best to give a good standard of service. The fabric of the building needs urgent improvement.

Stunning building but poor service!
Went here for New Year’s Eve and all I can say is not great bar area has no music no tv it is just a quite room no atmosphere at all pretty dull and boring, There was a ball on but it was £70 pp this was open to the public not just the hotel, there was nothing put on for the guests. Was also disappointed that when we went out during the day we can back to our room and no housekeeping had been done not what I expect when staying in a place like that! Also no mention anywhere online about the pool & sauna not being open went to pay for the use and was told it was closed for winter. Overall probably the worst service iv ever experienced unfortunately because of all the above I will not be returning. If your not bothered about a lively bar and a pool by all means it’s worth going just for the stunning building but that’s all this place has going for it, if it wasn’t so beautiful I don’t think it would be running!

Nightmare place to stay
Our stay was disastrous from check in to check out. The room was disgusting and needed a major renovation. It was supposed to be a easy accessible room and when we got checked in the drawers fell apart when opened, the room was cold and the shower was leaking and so high I couldn't reach it as there was no option to lower the shower head and it was impossible to have a shower as the water was scalding hot and when we tried to turn it to cooler setting it would not turn but came off in our hand. There was no hair dryer in the room and after reporting these problems to reception I eventually had to go to reception and collect the hairdryer myself despite being told someone would bring it to the room. There was bald patches on carpet and black mould around the shower tray. The extractor fan was completely useless as all it done was make a loud noise. Considering this room was supposed to be suitable for someone with disabilities it was totally unsuitable and inappropriate. In the main hotel was ridiculous as disabled toilet was out of order and getting to toilet on lower floor was not practical as the toilet floor was wet and very slippery. Although our party had previously booked the meals I was not included on our list. When food arrived it was luke warm and sprouts were limited to 2 per person if you were lucky. Pudding was disgusting as it was so gelatinous so overall it was worst meal I've had in a long time. Cost of drinks varied depending on who served you. Disgusting.

Well where do i begin once upon a time in rochdale house, for starters there was a shortage of staff which did not know how to work a till or even serve a drink 20 to 30 minutes everytime absolute joke. The food was good credit to the cheff however the people serving were daft only seemed to serve burgers but seemed like they didnt no what a burger was, should of just ordered a crisp sarny. Thanks for nothing and making me sleep in my clothes usually only do that in a tent. Hope you get shut down and refurbished good night.

Beautiful main building. Lacks signage to reception, we were not the only guests lost while we were checking in. We stayed in the old stable block so can’t comment on main hotel rooms. Our room although not dirty could have been cleaner, sweet rappers and tea rings on bedside table. Hair clip on the floor and some balls of dust under a dressing table and some hairs in the bath. Ordering food in the bar appeared chaotic. Food going to wrong tables, being asked what we had ordered a couple of times and a very long wait. No cutlery or condiments given and never arrived even after asking for them so gave up and used fingers. Burger was good though. Saying this I payed £42 for the night (no breakfast) so what can you really expect. Perhaps a knife and fork with the food, glad I didn’t order the soup as it could have been messy 😂 For the price I would stay again, if more expensive then probably not
