The room was small but we didn't need a lot of space for sleeping, bathroom was really small and needs to be updated,Room was really clean
Staff at the hotel was excellent and helped us a lot great great staff
Great location with lots of restaurants within 5-6 blocks and other entertainment options too. Close to lake. Self park option is good. Has adequate breakfast. Hotel is in an older building and is showing its age. It could stand some repainting/redecorating(particularly the hallways which are dreary). Still a pretty good deal with the location being the big draw.
The Majestic is a gem buried in East Lakeview. Close to public transportation (the Red Line, but also buses, including express buses that offer quick and convenient ways to get downtown), the hotel is perfect for the discriminating traveler. Its location also positions it close to a vibrant neighborhood, with lots of restaurants and bars, without attracting a lot of noise. The price was extremely reasonable, the room was comfortable, and I would stay there again.
The hotel is ok but too laud as it's too close to the train station and the window are not properly isolated. It needs to be renewed. The director is a very nice lady and the personell is generally very friendly.
Chicago Getaway was a wonderful experience. A friend and I met there as we were passing through the country, in different directions.
It was interesting to go into a room full of people, late in the night, and try to be quiet and not wake them as I crawled into my top bunk. (My friend had a lower bunk) But the bed was clean and comfortable. I felt safe and slept well. If you think about it, a little flashlight would be helpful, but not manditory.
The toilet and shower were down the hall a ways, but that allowed for late night or early showers that didn't disturb other guests. A towel was provided.
Breakfast was not fancy, but offered a variety and it was filling. Kurig coffee was available before Breakfast for $0.75. Only very strong versions. Otherwise coffee was included in breakfast, if you could wait.
There's a nice lounge area with sofas and soft chairs, the dining area provides plenty of tables to eat, fellowship or work. The internet works well. There is a patio area that is nice and relatively private. The only draw back was parking. You can pay for a space behind the building or walk to and from a nearby garage. You pay for convenience.
Check out at 11 but could leave the car until 3. It was my first trip to Chicago - should've left the car till 3! Plan to take public transport of you're not familiar with the city. It will save you time and anxiety.
If stay again in a heartbeat!
Stayed here to see the Cubs game. There's about 60 bars in a 5 block radius or so....tons of stuff to do here (well, eat and drink at least). The hostel itself is new (3 years old) and pretty nice. It's not like you are going to be spending a ton of time at a hostel when you're in hopping Chicago!
Trendy Lincoln Park is home to boutiques, movie theaters, stores, restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and clubs. The 1,200-acre park of the same name is also here, including the admission-free Lincoln Park Zoo within its grounds. St. Vincent de Paul and St. Josaphat’s ─ two architecturally significant Polish cathedrals ─ lend the neighborhood a touch of Old World charm.
