Manager communicated details well ahead of travel, but failed to mention a 25 Euro cleaning fee until we were already in transit. When explained to me in Italian upon my arrival, I thought we would be charged only if we did not clean up after ourselves when leaving. All trash removed and dishes done, we left the apartment nearly as clean as when we arrived, and my credit card was still charged for the cleaning fee.
Booked offseason, we required heat in our room, but the heater did not work. The next day and after a very cold night, we were given a second room with a working heater, but less of a view. The ferry did not sail the day we were to go to the island due to high winds and waves. I notified the manager of our inability to get to Levanzo. I was still charged for the first night but I was offered an extra day at no charge as compensation. I did not take the extra day for fear of not being able to ferry off the island in time to catch a flight out the following day.
Brought most groceries with us from Trapani since market on island offers limited choices and hours. Excellent bakery in the village. Wonderful island for hiking and relaxation. Fully furnished apartment right down to the coffee. Nicely decorated.
