Wonderful hotel, super comfortable and classy.
If you come by train, be sure that you leave through the right door and it will take you 5 min. to get to the hotel. (Ask about getting to the hotel before you leave the station)
Central, beautiful Leuven only 5-7 min. by taxi, or it also walkable.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a full range of both traditional fried items and continental breakfast items. My sister is a celiac and wheat free bread was provided every morning. When we needed a taxi, the staff responded immediately, even when they were very busy with others checking out. I forgot to print out the boarding passes for coming home and they were able to do this for us. I can't praise the staff highly enough and will stay here again when I visit Leuven. I will also be recommending the hotel to any of my friends who are visiting the area. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
It's remarkably big and you get a nice window. No idea what they were thinking with the lighting though. Not enough lights. cooking in the kitchenette at night is horrible, and the bathroom was also really dark.
The sofas and bed were both comfortable.
I didn't really understand how wifi was supposed to work, I managed to connect to wifi on my phone for a few hours until it unexpectedly stopped working and I could not connect my laptop at all. This was annoying because I wanted to check my emails in the morning but couldn't.
Also the walls are very thin so when some people came home past midnight it woke me up. I would bring earplugs.
I've been staying at the Hotel La Royale for nearly 20 years now when I visit the city to attend academic events at KU Leuven. I always look forward to my stay at the Royale. It is an historic, quaint and comfortable Belgian hotel. The service and breakfasts are always excellent and my visit is pleasing.
