Lovely old chateau in park with views of the lake and walking distance to town. However the City of Geneva now owns it and the public areas are run down. Our suite was marvelous and didn't match the reception area and restaurant. 5* for room and 3* for the rest of the hotel. It's more of a wedding/conference center with rooms. We could stay there again only because the suite was lovely and the walk into town along the lake was lovely
LARGE bedroom, in fact an apartment. Walking distance to the Jet d'eau. Walking distance to several trains/bus stops. Internal temperature control was awesome.Breakfast was provided. It was modest but then no reason for a lavish breakfast anyways I think. All I look for in a hotel is cleanliness, space, a comfortable and quiet place to sleep.
Yes, it's possible to stay at a clean, comfortable, friendly hotel in Gevena for a reasonable cost. While the amenities at Hotel Pax can't compare with those at the standard luxury hotels in this very wealthy city, the hotel is a perfectly fine place to stay, especially if you are on a budget. Staff is great, very friendly and helpful, location is outstanding, near everything. So the rooms are a bit Spartan perhaps, minimalist, threadbare even. But there is nothing to complain about, given the price disparity when the costs of services in Geneva are considered. Staying here freed up our budget to experience more of what lovely and peaceful Geneva has to offer. Wifi worked well, too.
Really enjoyed staying here, both because its so central and near Rive station (getting me anywhere I need to go on the free metro card that comes with the room) but also because the staff are truly friendly and kind and take great care of their guests! I was here on business and enjoyed the downtown and having a drink with the locals in the restaurant/café/bar better than the feel of a big expensive hotel; I will make a point to stay here again.
Hotel Calvy is situated in the city center of Geneva but benefits from the calmness and the charmness of a village. You will …More
East of the old town, Les Eaux-Vives is home to Jet d’Eau, the world’s tallest fountain, shooting water 140 metres high into the air. Shoreline promenades lead past the Jardin Anglais, where the Horloge Fleurie (Floral Clock) counts the hours with Swiss precision, and La Neptune, a traditional barge, can be hired for lake cruises. Parc La Grange is famed for its roses.
