This has been my first stay in this hotel and I am seriously impressed, from checkin to checkout everything was on point. The breakfast was eclectic, fresh and plentiful. I asked for veggie sausage and said item was provided no bother if fact they were happy to do it. In particular I would like to give Lyzl ( I think that was her name) who was keen to show me the new outside seating area which is very pretty. All in all 10 out of 10 I will be back.

As a family of 5 we all found the beds very hard. Also there was a big group of chavvy party girls a few doors down from our room. Lots of knocking on doors to get let in at 4am. A very disturbed night for us all.

At first glance, the hotel looked lovely. It was also nice that there was parking on site. The lobby and restaurant area are really nice. The rooms are another story (at least ours was). The furniture was tired and the bed uncomfortable. We booked the hotel because it boasted a pool and spa facilities which were also underwhelming. We would’ve expected robes and slippers in our room to be able to move to and from the pool facilities but were only provided a towel upon entering. The changing rooms were dirty and smelly. The men’s changing room showers only had 1 of 3 cubicles that worked and the door locked. The pool area was crowded even though we had a booked time slot. All in all, we were left wanting and will look for another option next time we’re in town.

All staff were helpful, friendly and professional, the room spacious and clean. The breakfast was beautifully cooked amd there was plenty of variety to suit all pallets as well as specials cooked to order. Would definitely stay again

Smart new lobby, disappointing bathroom
Nicely refurbished bar / restaurant with good food and a friendly barman. The hotel is let down by tired bathrooms, the water pressure was so low the shower water falls straight down from the head and you are left leaning into the wall to catch any flow.

High parking charge. Nice touches.
The breakfast was excellent. Other family were staying and for some reason they were not charged for parking, which I am annoyed about as there was limited parking and at £17 per 24 hours it’s extortionate. The room was okay, the shower a bit old fashioned. The addition of a fridge was great and appreciated. The tea and coffee and one hot chocolate were nice. The complimentary bar of chocolate was lovely as were the bottles of water in the fridge, very appreciated. The bathroom door did not close at all and this did not seem like a new problem. Another relative staying opposite there main door was open when I knocked on it and I shut it thinking it wld solve it but it still didn’t lock, this was a worry. As my room felt like someone had tried to open my door twice but I had locked it inside, so be careful and lock inside.

It was the strangest night away and not for any good reason - when we arrived there were travellers that had taken up a section of the bar which was fine; however the longer the day went on the louder they got. We sat in the bar for a time but it just didn’t feel right. The lady behind the bar needs a mention. She was nice, gave us a couple packs of crisps on the house - probably due to the noise. We went out for dinner and a movie - when we arrived back at the hotel the travellers were singing at the top of their voices. One gentleman had no shirt on. We found this very strange for a 4* hotel. There was any amount of children running around unsupervised of all ages. Up and down the stairs in the main reception. One lift worked whilst we were there which meant going from ground floor to our floor consisting of a trip to all floors with a packed lift. Shower was filthy and also had no power unless I set the shower head to JET mode which gave me 3 strands of water. Breakfast was average, nothing special All in all not a great experience for £180 stay. £17.50 for parking included in that cost which is expensive for a hotel not quite in the centre of Leeds.

Had to queue to check in as only one desk open on arrival. Bar service very slow not enough staff. Food at the event poor and undercooked. Breakfast very poor and continue dental choice was very sparse. Cooked food was cold and scrambled egg appalling. Room comfortable but rather grubby in places especially around window. Slept very well. Bed comfortable. Overall rather disappointing.

Basic failings
Good hotel, excellent, friendly & professional staff, with good breakfast. The only issues were with the room and basic expectations. The room was very nice, but the heating did not work, so it was freezing. The staff quickly brought us a portable heater, but this was not as controllable as thermostatically controlled AirCon. The hotel praises itself on eco credentials and environmental issues, yet the plug does not fit the sink, so constant hot water needs to be running for a wash and shave. There was a crack across the entire sink, so not only did the water run down the plug hole, it also leaked through the sink on to the floor. Not the best Crowne Plaza I have stayed in, and I’ve stayed in several.

The hotel and its staff were fine and the food at breakfast and dinner was good. The hotel was some distance from an area of shops and restaurants so seemed a bit out of the centre. Also was a feature of our booking that it had a sauna, so was disappointing to find it was closed.
