This was our second trip through this region, last time we stayed at Como.
Well when we got to our Lecco ( Griso hotel ) the view just blew us away.
The food was excellent and the staff very helpful .
A 15 minute walk into town where you can get boats to se all of lake Como.
We arrived by train off the Bernina Express and left by train on to Milan.
We found this hotel through Expedia, read some reviews and decided to book this hotel and flight package.
The hotel is very clean, friendly and small, just 12 rooms. It helped that the staff didn't have many rooms to look after, the level of service from the staff was fantastic, They don't speak English often by the sounds of it, but they coped well!
We had a garden view room, which was very nice, right next to the honesty kitchen, more about that later!
The room has a comfy bed, although no wardrobe or draws, there are wooden shelves, I thought the room complimented the view of the garden. Thick wood shelves, bedside boxes but no draws.
The honesty kitchen is a great idea, although there is a camera watching you.
The kitchen works on the premise of you writing down anything you have on a slip of paper. The paper then gets taken to reception and recorded against your room.
It is a great idea and works well.
Breakfast was ok, very European, nothing cooked though, which was fine.
We had dinner there one night, there were four courses, all of it was lovely. It was €30 each.
On the whole, I would recommend this hotel.
The only downside is that it is difficult to find. Google Earth the hotel and surrounding area, it helps!!
Hotel Villa Giulia is a charming place full of old world atmosphere. The gardens and terraces offer wonderful views of the lake and, although far from modern, our bright, comfortable room shared those views. True, our bathroom was small and somewhat idiosyncratic. However the friendly and attentive staff, the enchanting surrounds and the fantastic cuisine more than compensated for the short coming and we would gladly stay there again.
A word of warning to international GPS users: Make sure when you enter the address you write Frazione Pare and not Via Pare; otherwise you'll find yourself in a side street in Monza rather than in on the lake in Valmadrera!
We'd made a last minute decision to attend a week long sporting event near Lecco that our son's were participating in and with very few options remaining chose this hotel. Turned out to be an excellent choice for us. We found Lecco to be a charming and relaxing place with beautiful lake and mountain views. The hotel complemented this in a good location across the street from the lake promenade and 5 minutes walk from many good restaurants.
We drove around Lago di Como, based in this hotel. The hotel is very well located to Lecco, driving minutes to Belaggio and of course to the city of Como a bit further.
Friendly staff, decent breakfast, beautiful morning views from our balcony.
Extremely clean and operational hotel....wi-fi was a bit weak in the room, only detail.
A lovely, modern b&b set at the foot of the mountains in Lecco. The rooms are of a fantastic standard and the views are stunning. The owners couldn't be more accommodating and were always there if we needed anything. The photos don't do it justice! Can't rate it highly enough.
A dramatic, fjordlike setting below steep mountain cliffs adds much to this commercial town on the eastern 'leg' of Lake Como, often known as the Lago di Lecco. It's a fine excursion base served by cable-car. The town is reached by a fortified medieval bridge over the River Adda, the lake's sole outflow. Villa Manzoni (now a museum) was the birthplace of 19th-century Italian novelist Alessandro Manzoni.
