A really delightful hotel with a very interesting history and friendly staff.
So many hotels these days lack character and there is a strong degree of uniformity. It was tremendous to find a hotel so wonderfully different

The house is like a gem once you have found it and braved the bumpy track. It is part of the charming owners house but feels very private once you are there with a stunning view. It is cool in the summer which is a blessing after the heat of Florence. The owner advised us to take the train into Florence from Figline which worked well. We also enjoyed a trip in the car to Sienna; which was an hour through Chianti country and it was only 2 hours to visit Assisi, both unexpected bonuses of being south of Florence. I missed a pool, we tried the nearest camp site which has 5 pools all very busy and the day rate is high. The house is about 20 minutes in all to get to the shops in Figline so there is some inconvenience - you need to plan your day - but for me totally worth it for cool, peace and lovely owners.
Small, delightful period style hotel. Charming hotel, absolutely enchanting. Staff pleasant and helpful. Lovely breakfast al fresco. Very clean except for dust on bedside table but hotel more than made up for that. No bath but good shower with detachable shower head.
We have just returned from a four night stay at the Grand Duomo Hotel in Pisa. Great location only minutes from the Cathedral and Leaning Tower and lots of bars and restaurants to choose from within a short walk. The room was really nice, clean and comfortable and had a very effective air conditioning system which was extremely useful due to the very hot weather. The breakfast offered a good variety of food for all tastes (even toast and marmalade), the staff were courteous and helpful and most spoke very good English.
So its a hotel, in an alley.
I would advise not to hire a car if staying here.
All the surrounding roads, excuse me alleys, are tight and extremely narrow. and no parking spaces.
The taxi's stop at the mainish alley and you have to walk about 300m to the entrance of he hotel.
Positive side is it was like a five minute walk to the Leaning Tower.
And its close to the river that splits pisa.
It was a short ride to the train terminal, and the airport wasn't much further.
Our room was of average size, two singles pushed together, clean large bathroom. We aso had a mini fridge.
The thing is that the street lights outside came up throught the shutter slats, so if you can sleep like its daytime, the no problem. If you like to sleep when its dark, the room we had sucks.
And at 7 in the morning, no fault to the hotel, the road(alley) construction began. Nothing like a jackhammer alarm clock.
So it wasn't a very peaceful sleep for me.
But breakfast was included and like i said blocks to the Leaning Tower.

Our stay in the Villa was outstanding, the actual Villa is amazing, we drove a rental car to Pisa and the staff had our parking space already set inside the Villa grounds, the location is about 2 blocks away from the Tower Of Pisa and the town is a few blocks further.
Our room, by the way, way bigger than we expected, was overlooking the Pisa Tower, we were traveling light so it didn't matter but we didn't see an elevator, but I'm sure knowing the staff they will help you with you luggage. The Internet in the room was strong and breakfast was good with great coffee. Overall A++++ and looking forward to visit the Villa again.
