Very pleased with this hotel - location good, rooms comfortable, breakfast good, excellent value for money, dinner choice was good & food very nice. WiFi was a bit patchy. However I would use this hotel again. Staff were extremely pleasant & professional especially on Reception. Whilst there we were given access to ironing facilities, extremely useful when travelling.
We arrived after a late flight and were initially allocated a twin room, even though we had requested a double on booking; this was changed, although somewhat reluctantly, when we pointed this out.
It is located a short walk away from the Tower and Duomo in a quiet street. It is in an attractive old building and could benefit from some updating of facilities, but if you are staying for a night or two to see the city it is perfectly adequate and the price charged is fair.
We have just returned from a four night stay at the Grand Duomo Hotel in Pisa. Great location only minutes from the Cathedral and Leaning Tower and lots of bars and restaurants to choose from within a short walk. The room was really nice, clean and comfortable and had a very effective air conditioning system which was extremely useful due to the very hot weather. The breakfast offered a good variety of food for all tastes (even toast and marmalade), the staff were courteous and helpful and most spoke very good English.
So its a hotel, in an alley.
I would advise not to hire a car if staying here.
All the surrounding roads, excuse me alleys, are tight and extremely narrow. and no parking spaces.
The taxi's stop at the mainish alley and you have to walk about 300m to the entrance of he hotel.
Positive side is it was like a five minute walk to the Leaning Tower.
And its close to the river that splits pisa.
It was a short ride to the train terminal, and the airport wasn't much further.
Our room was of average size, two singles pushed together, clean large bathroom. We aso had a mini fridge.
The thing is that the street lights outside came up throught the shutter slats, so if you can sleep like its daytime, the no problem. If you like to sleep when its dark, the room we had sucks.
And at 7 in the morning, no fault to the hotel, the road(alley) construction began. Nothing like a jackhammer alarm clock.
So it wasn't a very peaceful sleep for me.
But breakfast was included and like i said blocks to the Leaning Tower.
