We stayed at the Blake for the 1D concert. It is a nice hotel very central to everything, just a ten minute walk to the Superdome.
Very nice rooms, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Check in was quick.
The only issue we had was valet parking. We knew in advance it was valet parking, so we decided to use it. When we got to the hotel there was nowhere to park to unload our luggage . The front of the hotel had five cars parked, no valet to be seen. The lady at the desk informed us that we would have to wait 20 mins for the parking, the cars out front were in line to be parked and there was no valet to do so at that time.
I "yelped" parking on my phone and found an outside lot two blocks down. It was $18 for 24 hrs. We took a chance and it paid off. The car was safe all night and we saved a bunch of money.
That was the only negative thing about the hotel. Otherwise it was perfect.
We arrived in New Orleans and from the time that we set foot at the Lafayette Hotel we were treated like royalty. They were very accommodating, helping us with valet parking and getting a luggage cart for us, loading it and delivering and unloading in our room, getting ice for us, more towels....anything we needed. The staff was awesome and helped us with anything we asked for. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel, staff and good customer service. We will always choose to stay at the Lafayette Hotel when visiting New Orleans. They made our experience great!!!
Booked not knowing where it was in relation to things we wanted to see. Location was great. Once we parked we walked! Less than a mile from Bourbon Street and probably a good 30 minute walked to the French Market and French Quarter. Staff was especially helpful in getting us to hotel when we got turned around driving in. Only negative for us was the "mandatory" valet parking -- had you between a rock and hard place with finding public parking. Happy hour was great -- talked to several nice people. Breakfast was also nice. Great to still have businesses that provide these amenities for those who would prefer to pay a little more but definitely get moneys worth or more! Rooftop pool area was a good place to relax.
The reviews are of the hotel before the renovations. The hotel is in impeccable condition, the staff is so helpful and hospitable. I would stay here time and time again. We could walk to pretty much everything. The French quarters, bourbon street, cafe du monde and the trolleys are nearby. Breakfast is amazing and the bar is awesome! Parking was pricey but you don't really need a car.
