This is a really good boutique hotel in the best area of Santiago to stay in. You will be a short walk from Barrio Lastarria and fun restaurants, cafes and nightlife. Our room view overlooked the park, and it was lovely. The best part is the included breakfast - the food is great, process to order is very good, and the servers very nice. The breakfast alone will save you quite a bit of trouble and money each day! The hotel staff was very kind for the most part - there was a mixup about our minibar but they resolved it. They were extra helpful on check-out with watching our bags and helping get us a car arranged for a MUCH better rate than we would have been able to get off the street on our own. Only complaints were the heater in the room wasn't working (didn't matter much, we were still comfortable) and the water in the shower did not get hot to my standards. Overall highly recommend.
"Modern apartment overlooking a small, lively plaza"
I stayed at Mela Blu for 4 nights in early March 2014. The location of the apartment is great--close to Cerro Santa Lucia and about 15-20 minutes walk to the start of Bellavista, home to many of Santiago's nightclubs. There's a large supermarket close by which is great for apartment stays. The apartment overlooks a small, lively plaza and there are many nice restaurants close by. This is great for sleeping in but not the greatest if you like to go to bed early as the restaurants are busy until around 02:00.
The apartment was spacious with modern furnishings, however some were a little worn (e.g., damaged venetian blinds). Wifi, which was included in the price, never worked during my entire stay and the staff didn't seem concerned about fixing it. It didn't even work in the front desk area so I feel the advertising of wifi with this property is not appropriate.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay and feel I could have rated it as excellent if the wifi situation was greatly improved.
Right in the Lastarria exclusive district, Mela Blu Apartments offer excellent furnished accommodations in Santiago, Chile …More
This hotel is located in a quaint neighborhood with several restaurants and outdoor cafes, only a short walk to downtown Santiago. The hotel offers limited parking and is tricky to find. Breakfast is included and staff is friendly.
Excellent place to stay! To enjoy the sights of Santiago, and still have a most pleasant stay, this location can't be beat. The apartment is clean, well-equipped, and looks out to the lovely green of Cerro Santa Lucia. It's near numerous cafés and restaurants and a large grocery store. Viviana was most helpful - arranged airport taxi, and a late checkout. Would definitely stay there again!
