“Sam's Town”

The location is a bit of a pain but they do run regular shuttles to Freemont St & the Strip. I find the casino cleaner than a lot of other places (such as compared to the Orleans). The gaming table staff are really nice & made me feel very welcome. I choose Sams Town because the tables are more fun. A lot of locals come here to play & they seem to be more relaxed & fun to play with. I quite like the location - theres a Walmart & a Walgreens within 5 minutes walk & if you fancy a change, the Eastern Cannery casino is 5 minutes walk away. If the hotel management ever happen to read this, my only criticism is that there are no full length mirrors in the rooms & putting your makeup on in the bathroom (or putting your contacts in) is a bit of a pain as the light isnt all that great.

“returned many times”

This a good value place to stay in the old Vegas tradition. Great value, good enough cross section of food choices without breaking the bank. Not a tourist rip off like the strip where they want to make money out of everything but a free shuttle bus to take you there if you have withdrawal symptoms. There's even a free bus now to & from the airport but limited times. Add in a massive 56 lane bowling alley ,18 screen cinema, mystic falls park laser show & probably the best western store in town what's not to like? Locals know best & this is a favourite in the area.

Area recommendations
Been there 3 times or more then off strip as many on strip low price places are tired & sleazy. Many off strip have free shuttles anyway. On strip try the MGM area to cover the southern half. If it's your first visit you might want to try splitting your stay between north & south strip as 4 miles is a long walk even in a straight line & going through the casinos en route will easily double that. Take good shoes! Avoid the area north of the Stratosphere to downtown at all costs if on foot unless you want to be a crime statistic.
When to go
Avoid June - August if you don't like it over 100 F. Winter 55 - 75Fduring the day but cold at night.

“It was a pleasureable accommodation.”

The room was very nice but the pillows were hard & the King bed mattress was a bit saggy. Nothing bad though.

Area recommendations
This area location is close to Sam Boyd Stadium where we attended BSU vs UNLV football game.

“Impressed”

Love the Mystic park laser & water show, and my room location to see the show from my window; the bed sheets and pillow cases are white and clean. $3 min for blackJack is another pleasant surprise, even a slot machine has better return than the same type of machine at another 4 star hotel. And the hotel price is good too.

“Don't expect to get the room you booked and paid for.”

I booked two nights in a non smoking King room at Sams Town. I had a late flight on the first night and didn't check in until almost 1am. Upon arrival I learned that rooms are really first come first serve and that I would be staying in a queen SMOKING room. Not acceptable as I have asthma, but it was my only option.the bathroom had very inconsistant water pressure and the shower would literally just stop after 2-3 minutes and take a minute or two to come back on. Someone stole my cell phone out of my jacket pocket in the casino and I was told that "If that's the worst thing that happens to you in Vegas then you're doing pretty good." by the security guard I reported it to. Not very welcoming or friendly at all. The buffet there is mediocre and disappointing. I left quite sick from the smoke. I wouldn't recommend staying there.

Area recommendations
Just stay on the strip.
Comment from the hotel's management
I am sincerely sorry to hear about the issues you had with your recent stay at Sam's Town. We do our best to accommodate each room preference request, I am sorry that the room you preferred was no longer available at the hour that you arrived. In any case there should not have been any problems with the shower as you describe and I assure you that I will share your comments with our Hotel Manager so that she is aware of your experience. I will as well share your comments with our Security Director. While we cannot control some circumstances, we can certainly control our reaction to situations. The experience you had is not at all typical of our security team, however we will coach that team on how this could have been handled more appropriately. Again, I sincerely apologize that these circumstances marred your visit. I hope that you will decide to visit us again and offer us the opportunity to better meet your expectations.

“Really surprised at the quality!”

We'd been to this hotel once before, but only to meet someone in the atrium lobby for lunch. We were so impressed with how attractive the hotel was that when we had to make an overnight business trip to Vegas, we decided to stay at this property. We were really surprised at the quality of everything: the room itself, the choice of restaurants, having a movie theater on the premises, casino not too noisy or smokey... all at an unbelievably low price, especially when compared to hotels on the Strip. We were so pleased that we plan to make it our hotel of choice every time we return to Vegas, for business or for pleasure. The hotel just started running a shuttle to the Strip and to the Airport, so what's not to like??? Great place!

Area recommendations
Henderson! Beautiful area, filled with restaurants, CostCo, Trader Joes, Galleria Mall, Auto Mall. Love it so much we are thinking of relocating there!

“Needs some improvement”

Get some new staff, front desks knows nothing about the facility. Need brochure in room telling about times of resturants, pool, parking. With map of the place and map of town. The staff have tunnel vision, they know nothing but the job they do can't give directions, information about things eg. one desk staff told us there were no museums in town, and no afternoon shows in town. Waitress staff especially one on the card tables area is past her prime on 5 individual occassions she was rude, abrupt and nasty to myself, husband and others in the casino we talked to while having dinner. Not many people smile say hello make you feel welcome. No matter how great the facility is if the staff are not proud of their job and willing to make the customers who indirectly are paying their wages feel special they will not return. Staff need uniforms they are hard to find in the crowd and look messy maybe just a dress code in one colour, but there were front desk in jeans, hockey shirts, girls in too casual outfits at the theatre and movie desks. The pool was great once we found it. Need more info in rooms, TV is fine but people do not have time to sit and listen to that every time you want to know how to use the phone, what the hours of a restuarant are etc. Rooms were clean and well maintained and bed was great this is always a major thing with being away from home if the bed is bad your trip is bad.

Area recommendations
This is a good location off the strip, as traffic is nuts and you cannot walk very far without going up and down, this makes for too much extra walking but is a good way to manage pedestian traffic and car traffic. Again people who work in the public should be able to direct you around town, one girl could not tell us where a casino was and when we got out on the street it was almost across the street and down one. Old end of town is a little creepy need some help. Need to make some none high places to stay like strip motels of good standards for longer stays. Keep the timeshare people to be none agressive in their approach, then rude when you say no thank you. Make one lane at night that just moves and not one can stop and get our in.
When to go
Early fall not too hot but things still open, They were a lot of pools already shut, remember people like to swim up to Nov 15 at least
