Do Not Check in Early

Tried to check in 2 hours early since the flight landed and was told - Of course we can check you in - FOR A FEE. Enough with the fees. You charge a resort fee - Isn't that enough?

Stayed for a couple of days. Would be nice if their waiters can come by more often to take my drink order in the casino.

Good Times

Pros: Penn & Teller
Cons: Train the staff at Hash House how to be polite. Fix the wifi login. It appears to cost additional even though it doesn't.
Location: The Rio is near the strip. If you can't find anything to do then you are the problem.
The resort is very large and there's plenty to do and see. The room was spacious. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Check in was quick for us but we saw a line most of the time. The resort is about a half mile from the strip but there is a shuttle every 30 minutes to Bally's or Harrah's. We tried a few restaurants and found them all to be good but Hash House a Go Go. The server was unfriendly and the food was over-priced. I don't gamble so I won't comment other than to say there were plenty of machines and tables. I needed to ship a small package and the UPS store at the resort were helpful. Additional: The Penn & Teller show is a must see. The alcohol is very expensive. You can bring in alcohol and drink it anywhere except the pool area and probably the bars. We saw Carrot Top and Fantasy at the Luxor. Carrot Top was pretty good. Fantasy was a great show and it was inexpensive.

Worn out mattress

Helpful when calling room services. If they didn't have it or it was going to take 30-60 mins they would suggest if we would like to go down to the casino floor where it could possible me much quicker. They gave you options

Nice off the Vegas strip hotel.

Pros: I liked that my room was clean and that housekeeping did a very good job of taking care of my room and were extremely nice. The spa was great!
Cons: The hotel provides you with a coffee maker in your room but no coffee. You have to buy it from you mini-bar. The daily "resort" fee should cover that!
Location: The Rio shuttle bus drops you off at Bally's on the strip which pretty much puts you in the middle of all the big name casino/hotels.
I am a single senior male and chose a hotel away from the constant hustle and bustle of the Vegas strip. For being an older hotel the Rio has been kept up failry well with just a few signs of wear. My room (14th floor in the Ipanema tower) appeared as though it had been refurbished not too long ago. I was there the week (Tue. thru Sat.) after the long Labor Day weekend and the hotel was not too full which made it easy to get into the restaurants and buffets and to find a lounger at the pool. The hotel as a whole did not get too busy until Thursday night. I must say that almost everyone working in the hotel was extemely friendly, including the folks working in the concessions. Oddly enough, the folks working at the front desk were not quite as friendly as the rest of the staff. Overall I had a very good experience at the Rio.

Plumbing, faucets, leak.$ 5.00 for a20 ounces of water way to much. Hotel seems to be getting old carpet worn out.
