“JUST SORT OF BLAH”

I wasn't expecting anything spectacular from this hotel, but it ended up being far below what I was anticipating. The room was very small, it smelled odd, and there was something spilled on the desk that had not been wiped off. The one-inch gap under the door was annoying too. Overall, I just felt like I was staying in a cheap motel during the time I was there!

Nice large room. If you want to be on the strip this is not the place but I wanted to be away from strip as I was only there for one night as a stop over.

“Excelent Hotel”

I stay at the Cal last August for 7 nights the room was excellent for my needs. Excellent location and excellent staff will stay there again next year.

“Outstanding”

My wife and I have taken 12 trips to Las Vegas over the last 7 years and stay mostly Downtown. First time we have stayed at the Cal and we will be coming back. Only downtown hotel I would rate higher (and we have stayed at all but the Golden Gate, Freemont and Four Queens) would be the Golden Nugget, and for the money the Cal offers a better value.

“Aloha friendly”

This is a great hotel if you're looking for something cheap. Check in was fast and easy. Hotel staff was friendly and our room was clean. The only downfall was the small pool.

“Nice personal staff, but room, bed ongoing renovations....a lot to be desired”

Hotel staff personable but on going renovations(new carpet install at all hours) roping off extensive area of machines ( which I prefer to play) terrible. Mattress on bed terrible, sagging, very old: need to readdress bed/mattress for guests. How can guest enjoy stay when unable to attain quality sleep. Room warm/hot. Address problem with front desk on multiple occassions but no feed back: temperature same during entire stay. I prefer downtown and California Hotel(from Hawaii) cater to island folk, but......California Hotel management need to address making accomodations for guests COMFORTABLE. I actually went to Golden Nugget to play machines, since ongoing roped off/secure areas throughout Casino were not available. HOW DO THEY GENERATE MONEY IF THEY CONTINUE TO PREVENT GUESTS ACCESS TO MACHINES. THAT IS WHY I COME VEGAS/CALIFONIA HOTEL....

I would recommend downtown vegas: California Hotel, but.....they need to address my issues/concerns. My vacation was not restful, nor enjoyable..
