This hotel celebrates is 100 year birthday next year, and you can see why, food was excellent, breakfast varied, I cannot comment of the evening buffet as we were bed and breakfast, however we ate at two occasions in the hotel restaurant which was outside next to the pool (Small hotel, sun loungers replaced by tables and chairs in the evening) food was varied well presented and value for money.
The rooms were bright and clean (not too keen on the glass bathroom door) cleaners although cleaned well were a little inconsistent sometimes you received complementary tea, coffee other days you did not, some days cleaning products left behind.
Staff were attentive and polite.
Beautiful building, in good location about a 40 minute walk from the old town, 10 minutes from restaurants and local shingle beach.
Had a fantastic stay here have already recommended to my neighbour who is in the process of booking for next year.
We had a breakfast and dinner plan included which was convenient. Bus to old town was right in front. Buy bus passes at hotel front desk. We did figure that a beach lounge would be free for guests but they were 30 kunas. Overall it is a very nice hotel with a nice beach and places to walk to nearby.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was our first trip to Dubrovnik, and the hotel was a superb retreat and very pleasant place to stay. The help was kind, helpful and low-key in all the best ways ( assisted with bags, recommendations for sightseeing, taxi service, ice for a gift of champagne, Fex Ex help) and the setting of the property is superb. We will return.

Buses ran to Dubrovnik every 15 mins just outside the hotel so we were conveniently situated without the disadvantages of being inside the city which could be very busy. We were close to beaches and places of interest. We bought a Dubrovnik card which allowed us to travel freely to and from the city and its immediate environs and gave us free access to several places of interest plus a discount on meals at certain places. The hotel staff were very efficient and helpful and became our first point of enquiry when we planned a day out. The hotel itself was very well equipped and comfortable. Altogether a very enjoyable experience and somewhere we would return to.

Situated on a beautiful walking path, only a few minutes to the water and bus stop. Staff very friendly, speak good English, give good tourism advice. Would stay here again. Excellent breakfast with eggs, fruits, cheese and ham.
All the staff are very friendly and eager to help make your stay as pleasant and easy as possible. The hotel itself is clean, with standard facilities, if a bit old fashioned. Our 14" Grundig TV had teletext! The rooms are all a standard large size and our double bed was huge- 7ft by 7ft! The nearest beach is very nice and about a 3 minute walk from reception. Overall a good base for staying in Dubrovnik...

We stayed at Hotel Kompas for 10 nights in August and were very pleased with the overall stay.
It's located less than 20 minutes bus ride from the Old Town in a nice tourist area next to the beach.
The hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. The air-con in the rooms in particular is excellent.
One thing that really stood out for both of us is how friendly the staff were. They're very polite, willing to help and always greeting people.
The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice including continental, fruit, tea/coffee, cereal as well as hot food. The hotel restaurant also servers good food at a reasonable price.
There were always plenty of deck chairs by the pool, which is clean and big enough to have a proper swim.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
