Really helpful staff with perfect English who explain where to get the bus outside into town. Bus goes every 20 mins and takes 10mins to get to the Pile Gate at the old town. Bus costs 12 kuna each way, hotel will sell you the bus tickets and it's cheaper than paying on the bus. Breakfast good and lovely setting overlooking the bay.

This was a nice place, close to he beach, with many of the usual amenities of a good hotel. It is removed from the old town but close to the bus line, so not inconvenenient. It's remoteness from traffic made it rather peaceful.
What stands out to me was the most excellent complementary breakfast that we had. Good, brewed coffee- not Nescafe. A wide selection of fresh fruit. Fresh pastry. What a treat!
Just the power pill we needed to start our day and get rolling.

We stayed at Hotel Kompas for 10 nights in August and were very pleased with the overall stay.
It's located less than 20 minutes bus ride from the Old Town in a nice tourist area next to the beach.
The hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. The air-con in the rooms in particular is excellent.
One thing that really stood out for both of us is how friendly the staff were. They're very polite, willing to help and always greeting people.
The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice including continental, fruit, tea/coffee, cereal as well as hot food. The hotel restaurant also servers good food at a reasonable price.
There were always plenty of deck chairs by the pool, which is clean and big enough to have a proper swim.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was invited to Dubrovnik for a friend's wedding. Most of the guests had found very expensive hotels, hostels and apartments in and around the old city. I decided to stay in Lapad, a small area just outside the city, in a hotel I knew I was going to spend barely any time in. The old city was a 10 minute bus ride away (12 HK ~ £1.50) and the stop is right outside the hotel. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The pebble beaches were fantastic and even had their own free wifi. If you are looking for a room in Dubrovnik where you can sleep, wash and keep your stuff, I would highly recommend Hotel Adriatic.
