“We will go back again.”
An excellent hotel with very good standards all round. It is in a good location and close to the airport.
“excellent food”
excellent food, service good, very clean although the beds were a little uncomfortable, would recommend
“Very very good value for money”
Everything was really good except we were not aware of everning casual clothes; my hustband had only shorts...(long shorts or short trousers) and he was not really wellcome...
“Puerto Del Carmen's best hotel”
Stayed at the San Antonio Hotel in June 2010 for a week. The hotel was lovely, friendly staff and the food was great (although may becaome monotonous after two weeks.) The safe per week was charged at 12 euros and the fridge was charged at 11 euros a week but great for keeping your own drinks cool. The bedroom was rather cramped because we had our child sharing the same room in a single camp like bed as well as our double bed so not much room. Entertainment during the day included areobics in one of the pools and games on the beach such as bowls. Taxi from the airport cost 11 euros one way but was a quick journey. Had a great holiday and would definately stay at this hotel again.
“Would go back”
We stayed in the San Antonio Hotel from 12th - 22nd Sept. The room was clean and the maid service was excellent. We had a leak in our bathroom coming through the ceiling however this was fixed quickly and it didn't leak again. The food was buffet style which was great and there was so much to pick from and a different theme every night. Some of the food could have been a bit warmer however there was a microwave if you wanted to heat your food up.
“classic if slightly faded hotel”
The San An is a fairly famous hotel from the days when Sloane Rangers (remember them!) inhabited Lanzarote, before it become popular and cheaply accessible. While the surroundings may have changed for the worse, the hotel largely maintains its elegant presence. Stay in this hotel for its architecture alone; easy to pass by, it's really lovely art deco in detail and a wonderful functional design. The gardens are lovely and the beach frontage great; poke around inside the corridors and stairs and you'll see it's a classic building. At February half-term the hotel was quiet and mostly inhabited by oldies (sorry to be offensive) however there were a few families. No bright young things though; the bar in the evening had slow dances to singers who were mostly reminiscent of Vic Reeves doing a club singer impression. The food is pretty good for buffet-style; as always there is the usual English/German stuff but there is good local food to be found in amongst it. Rooms are lovely (get a sea-facing room) - there is no kettle I heard someone whine but that's pretty standard for a European hotel. I'm sure they would be up to giving you one if you wanted. On the whole a great experience; there are not many hotels in Puerto del Carmen and I would go straight back here. Having said that, more lavish hotels are around for a lot less money in eg Playa Blanca or Puerto Calero.
“4 star? Not a chance!!!!”
Very unfriendly welcome by reception(manager). Asked how we wanted to pay - I said room had been pre-paid. Then asked to hand over voucher. When trying to explain there was no such thing, just an email confirmation from Expedia, he got even more rude and demanded we hand over this to him! "Now"!! He didn't bother giving us various bits of information which meant we had to keep running back to the desk (to use fridge in room: you have to collect key and there is an extra daily charge, to use the safe in room: you have to collect key card at desk and there is an extra daily charge, internet in room - forget about it!). When I said that maybe they should inform guests when checking in - as we were not part of a charter group - the response was an uninterested "maybe". Speaking of charter groups, assuming that 99% of the guests at the San Antonio are - it feels like you've walked straight into a Thomas Cook catalogue! What else? As reception decided they didn't like us they downgraded us (had a front sea view room booked but ended up having to lean out over balcony to see the sea!) Summary: an old, worn and tired hotel with poor facilities and mostly pretty bad service. On the plus side: friendly concierge guy and room attendant (although we still didn't get topped up with soap and shampoo) AND a cab rank outside! That's probably the best thing about the san Antonio - you can get away quickly!
“Disappointing”
We returned to San Antonio after 8 years and were quite disappointed. The common areas are well kept and clean and the gardens were as nice as we remember them. However, the room had seen better days. While a good effort was made to clean the rooms it was simply too old and tired to make for pleasant stay. The false ceiling in the bathroom was in poor condition, there was no working extractor and the bath sealant was starting to get mouldy. We had a ground floor room with direct access to the garden, it is probably not a good idea to have carpet in ground floor Beach hotels, it did not look in good state. We had breakfast only included and the food was perfectly reasonable, nothing too fancy but decent quality.

Puerto del Carmen, Tias, Spain: The islands biggest and busiest resort has two very different faces. Along the beachfront is a three-kilometre long, unbroken strip of shops, restaurants and night spots. By contrast, the old port is a picturesque spot busy with fishing and pleasure boats, and overlooked by restaurants and bars, many occupying a lofty balcony position on the hill. Adjacent, the swish marina of Puerto Calero offers excursions by yacht, submarine or catamaran.
