“fantastic hotel-plenty of good food and drink”
This is a fantastic hotel it does take a while to familiarise yourself with all the different facilities on offer as this is a huge hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful the hotel room was the largest we have stayed in the bed was double kingsize! The choice of food is excellent if anyone says any different they must be fussy eaters. There was only one downside and that is the location of the hotel which is about 3km away from the shops and harbour as we like to walk on holiday which we did several times down to playa blanca it took aprox an hour to walk down the beach path and cost nearly 4 euros in a taxi.To sum up this was an excellent holiday and would definately recommend.
“overall impressed”
Hotel - great choice of food challenge anyone not to find something they liked Entertainment very enjoyable - especially the in-house team Happy to go back and recommend to friends
“Rubicon Palace food”
The hotel and staff were lovely. It is very clean but the although there was a lot of variety in the food, most of it was not too hot. There are microwaves but that is not suitable for all food. The dining room was like a canteen. For this reason I would not recommend the hotel again. It is a shame as I could not fault the rest of it.
“Not a four star hotel”
While the outside of this hotel looks impressive (minus the mini golf area), our room was very outdated. The beds and comforters were old and worn. The TV was also old and didn't work until the maintenance department came to fix the outlets. One "fixed", we were told to keep certain switches on around the room so the TV would work. The water from the sink and shower (and toilets) was brown which I was told was "normal" in the mornings but we found it stayed brown all day. The water temperature in the shower fluctuated from very hot to cold throughout a 5 minute shower - no regulation at all. I did call the front desk to have someone take a look but it was never corrected during our stay. I've seen other reviews of the hotel saying that there were nicer rooms available with flat screen tvs and nicer furnishing so I'm assuming we just had an older room. The outside grounds were in good condition and the pools were clean. We were under the impression that the heated pool was available for use but found that there was an added cost to do so. There was also a fee to use the gym unless it was prior to 10 a.m. We went half board which included breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Both meals offered many options but often times the quality was mediocre. It was convenient to have meals included, however, as there are not too many food options on the island. There is a strip of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel that we did visit for lunch.

Area:
Playa Blanca, Yaiza, Spain: The original port and fishing village maintain an agreeable low-key buzz with good bars and restaurants, but it is the beaches that make Playa Blanca famous. West of the centre, on past the new and expanding fashionable Marina Rubicón, and a clutch of luxury hotels, lie the islands finest golden white coves, known collectively as the Papagayo beaches. Three small cafes are the only development in this protected area.
