I travelled with my daughter and my two grandchildren ,aged 15 and 13. This was our second visit.
The location of the hotel was first class close to the beach and other amenities. The two kids found friends and plenty to do and were always on the move while my daughter and I enjoyed the clean well looked after pool area.
Meals were excellent with plenty of choice both evening and lunch
All staff were friendly and efficient and all areas were clean and tidy particularly the bedrooms.
We did have a slight disappointment in that we had requested twin rooms next door to each other as we were a mixed party of 2 males 2 females. However we were given 1 double room and a twin room but when questioned Reception informed us it was the only way we could be next door to each other. However we settled down and it did not detract from our holiday.
Would we return? Most emphatically YES.
I told the Hotel in advance that it was my partners 50th birthday and on arrival we were upgraded to a suite with fab views. Spent the day in town and returned to room around 5 pm to find a bottle of Cava and chocolate cake left for us. All in all was a great night for us and the Hotel helped in this so thank you from us!

This was the 8th time we stayed at the San Antonio, this time with the in-laws and mum-in-law can be very picky especially with regard to cleanliness. She couldn't find anything and remarked on how friendly and helpful the staff are.
My better half and I will be staying again, probably with the in-laws (not yet sure if that's a good or a bad thing!).
A great hotel in an excellent spot. Fabulous beach but no sun beds anywhere to be seen on the enormous beach. It may be April and the start of the season but no beach facilities at all. Playa Blanca have their beach up and running but that is an hour on the bus.
Great location. Excellent facilities and good cleanliness throughout. Staff extremely helpful and polite. Would have preferred to have part of the restaurant as adult only as some children(under 8's) were allowed to wander and play around the dining tables and food unsupervised. A good mix of nationalities made our stay interesting. Would return, but not in high season due to the dining room having limited space.
Really enjoyed our stay at Sol and will definitely be returning later this year! Food was great and varied, waiting on staff were great and lovely with the kids, minimum queues at all mealtimes. Family room was very spacious and very clean. Evening entertainment was fantastic, some really good acts. Pools were great. Children really enjoyed the kids clubs.
Faultless hotel - it is colossal but extremely well-run, spotlessly clean, amazing food and excellent facilities. The abundance of beautiful, fresh food was almost embarrassing - a real treat. We were upgraded to a junior suite as the hotel was fully booked so had a spacious room with a living area and a lovely sea view. The pools were all wonderful, the animation team was excellent and not too 'in your face' - my 7 year old and I played a lot of table tennis whenever there was a rain shower (sadly frequently during our 4 day stay!) The staff were all super-friendly and very amenable.
However, I would probably not go back to the Sandos Papagayo because a) the location - it is too far away from the airport - the taxi ride was nearly 50 Euros each way - a good 40 mins. And b) the beach in front of the hotel must be accessible from the hotel as I saw people on it but no idea how you got down to it from the hotel ... and it is black sand which makes it pretty unattractive. They have a free shuttle bus to and from the town nearby but we did not leave the hotel for 4 days as my daughter just wanted to go in the pool. Personally I would have liked to go for a walk nearby or wander around the town a little but due to the bad weather and the fact that you had to get a bus to go anywhere, we stayed put.
