“Good value in East Lansing”

This hotel is in a great location if you're visiting Michigan State or traveling out of the East Lansing train station. It's an older proprty and needs some updates, but the hotel is clean and in good condition. Overall, it's a good value if you just want a decent place to stay in East Lansing.

“So-so, but more 'so' than so!”

This is not a hotel to please! Stay there if you a short on money and need to go easily to MSU.

“Completely adequate”

For the price paid, this Howard Johnson's was completely adequate for us. The rooms were a little smaller than we expected, but the room was clean. Customer service (Vince - front desk evening of check-in) was EXCEPTIONAL! Pool area clean and inviting. Breakfast was a little meagre, but served its' purpose. Would definately stay again.

“Howard Johnson E. Lansing”

Saw the room. It was smoky and dusty. The furniture was "distressed" to say the least. We left without staying.

“Wish we had remembered our bathing suits.”

The staff was very accommodating in preparing our room, as we arrived earlier than planned. The room was simple and clean, everything worked, we especially appreciated the extremely quiet air conditioning system. After spending a whole day exploring the MSU campus, we wished that we had brought our bathing suits so that we could soak in the pool and the hot tub!

“Decent basic lodging. Convenient to MSU.”

Somewhat noisy but it was a college football game morning. Breakfast is barely passable. Bare bones lodging in a convenient location. Would do again if I was by myself.

“Good campus location”

Stayed one night for a wedding so not at hotel much. Room was clean & comfortable, staff helpful.and breakfast was good. Halls, stairways, & hall carpet could use some maintenance & a good cleaning. Can't complain because price was good. Did not use pool & hot tub but looked really nice.

“Old socks under bed”

Good location near MSU campus and nice, friendly staff, but the room was dirty. I kid you not -- a previous occupant's socks and plastic cups were under the bed. Yucch.

“okay . . . but . . .”

Hotel was clean and staff was helpful. Common areas were well maintained and inviting. It was obvious they were working hard at upgrading the facility. The room, while clean, had an ac unit that blew directly at the bed, making for a slightly uncomfortable night. I booked this room as one of the "undisclosed-hotel-special-price" deals, and for the price, the room was fine. I think it would be more problematic for a more extended stay, mostly because there's basically nowhere in the immediate area for dining or entertainment within walking distance -- rather strange for a college town. But if someone were coming in for a game weekend and planned to be away from the hotel most of the time, it'd be a good, economical choice.
