If you're looking for somewhere cheap (ish) to stay and are planning to be out and about for most of the time, this hotel fits the bill. It's crumbly about the edges (though apparently being renovated). It was fairly clean, but don't expect much. The airco in the room was loud and not particularly up to date. OK for a few nights, but definitely not ideal. To be fair that is reflected in their price.

We are a young family with 3 young kids. We have a good time at Tanjung Rhu, The beach and swimming pool are to die for. My kids spent all their time on the beach and the family pool. We love the family pool so much and most of time time, we were the only family who occupied the pool. Excellent and helpful staffs. Will definitely stay at Tanjung Rhu again for our next vacation in Langkawi.

We arrived unexpectedly in the early evening (after cancelling reservations at another hotel) and although the Datai staff hadn't yet received our reservation they quickly made our room available and made us feel very welcome.
The villa was beautiful and although secluded was very close to the beach & main resort facilities. There was a huge bathroom with candles & although the villa was in the rainforest, it never felt oppressive, due to the clever use of lighting & lots of window openings.
Staff were attentive (but not intrusive) and frequently served cold face towels, sorbets & samples cocktails throughout the day - a truly magical 6 night stay.
Lovely comfortable rooms but if you are English then the TV is useless! Only 10 minutes from Cenang and Tengah beaches and only 6 miles from Kuah so well placed if you have transport. Sound proofing is inadequate so if you are next to a noisy couple or family you may request to be moved - as I was. No fuss and room service food is very good. Smoking rooms with balconies are fabulous. Not the cheapest but my second visit and will stay again.
Amazing staff that went above and beyond to make our stay extra special, I have stayed in a lot of hotels like this and it particularly stood out for service and experience. Would definitely recommend.
A very very nice place to stay. They even upgrade my room to the one facing the Andaman sea at no extra cost. Except for the food at Jala restaurant. Too expensive with very small portion. Breakfast was superb. Will go again for sure.
