“Citin Nov-11”

Good value for money. The hotel is not located in tourist area, but in the town centre. The shops and restaurants (mainly visited by locals) are walking distance from the hotel. There is a mosque in front of the hotel, so be prepared for early morning wake up, if you have street facing room. Breakfast is Asian, not a big selection of food. Wireless internet available in lobby, and the connection is excellent. The rooms are very clean, some of them are quite small. No elevator, it's three storey building. No sea view from the room windows. Hotel staff is very helpful.

Area recommendations

Citin is good location, if you plan to rent a car. Otherwise, try to book hotel close to jetty, these hotels have sea view and are in tourist area. Otherwise, go for Cenang beach area, where hotels, beach and shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

Getting around

rent a car is the only option, no public transport in Langkawi.

“certainly going back to citin, the next time im in langkawi.”

the staff at citin hotel in langkawi was very helpful and friendly and gave us very good advise so we could enjoy our stay there and at a budget too. the room was squeeky clean and very well furnished. For the price we paid, it was very good. The breakfast though was not too enjoyable both days and you gotto make sure that you go down early if you want to have breakfast at all.

Area recommendations

There are 3 beaches in Langkawi. I visited 2 of them. Cenang Beach was great with all the waters sports and the fun bells and whistles. We went para sailing there and the view of the island was astounding. The famous underwater world is also at that beach. For those who want a quite beach all by them selves, I would recommend Kok beach which is much quieter and cleaner too. Don't miss the seven wells water falls. its a steep climb but you get to reward yourself with a dip in the refreshing water at the top. On the way back, treat yourself to a chilled coconut from the shop at the base. You will LOVE it. theres a night market with road side stalls very near to citin. Its setup every thursday through sunday. Go there if you're looking for some fresh air at night.

Getting there

if you're going there via a ferry from penang like we did, you need to be at the ferry terminal early morning before 8 as there are only 2 ferries for langkawi in the morning. While on your way back, i'd recommend you go via kuala perlis as ferries leave for that place every hour. You can go whereever you want from there.

Getting around

you can rent a car for as low as 80RM in low season. I was able to bargain for 70RM. The car was in perfect working condition. Petrol is not expensive and you can move around the island at your leisure. Taxis are very expensive.

“avoid this hotel”

The room without window is horrible. The aircon makes a terrible noise. The breakfast very poor. The city of Kuah is only interresting for duty free shopping, not worth to stay there more than 2 hours.
