We have stayed at the Village Hotel in Blackpool 4 times. This visit was quite disappointing. Although the rooms have been nicely refurbished since our previous stays we had a problem with regulating the shower temperature on our first night, either freezing cold or boiling hot. The steam set off the fire alarm so we had staff knocking at our door in a panic. They actually didn’t seem surprised that there was no fire and that the shower had caused the alarm so I assume this has happened in other rooms too. They said they would send someone up from maintenance to fix it but no-one came. I used the app to report the problem, still no-one came. Eventually, I had to go down to the front desk and complain. The duty manager came to our room and asked us to move to another room. We had to pack up all our stuff and move, this was quite late at night and we were really fed up by this point. In the new room the shower worked ok but the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. I couldn’t face the hassle of another move so I used kettles of water to clear the toilet. On our 3rd night we had to endure a baby screaming in the next room, behind an adjoining door, which kept us awake. I think we will be trying another hotel if we are in Blackpool again.
