“A Shadow of its Former Self”
Once upon a time, this was a grand hotel, but now it is looking very tired. It would require a massive spend to return this hotel to its former glory and it is probably not what is required in Blackpool, so the cost of a big refurbishment would never be recouped . At least, at the moment, it provides a cheap bed for the night.
“blackpool....seemd like being in a horror movie!”
the hotel was very run down and in need of redecorating/refurbishment. There were rips in the seats in the lounge/bar area, there were also cobwebs in the room and the toilet in the room smelt like a sewer after flushing (it was bad enough to retch from the smell). The beer also seemed to be watered down. Not what we would expect from the Savoy - which has a high expectancy considering its reputation. The room as cheap though but I would expect that considering that it is out of season.
“Hotel was fine”
This is a Victorian style hotel which is what we wanted full of original fixtures. This is blackpool so it depends on what you find it suited us for the weekend we were there. Far enough from the city centre to be quite and only a short tram ride away from all the attractions
“not impressed”
check in could not find us wanted double room given twin when this was pointed out on arrival we were told it would be changed or the beds put together neither was done We had to wait at the bar for staff to come All entertainment finished bang on 11.00pm - Could have left music or something as the wedding party in the next suit was still going on. breakfast although the food was good there was no one to show you were to sit and old plates were not cleared from the tables so even with the tables seating 10 it was not very nice to sit down with 6 places stacked with dirty plates bowls and cups
“Food in Breakfast excellent - Standards not to EHO on presentation.”
all fabulous ref hotel except breakfast - where do i begin! Food excellent - the chef is superb Service - 20 dirty tables around where i was sitting waited 25 mins for eggs bacon and toast. cereal overflowing in a pile - ran out of tea coffee and juice on both days. I had breakfast at 8am one morning and also 9am both a disaster - Duty manager not available and when he did appear an hour later didnt handle my thoughts at all well staff said that they were in it for the money and nothing else. However I would not slate a hotel which just needs a bit of training and support. On 2nd day the night porter saved the day with topping up the hot buffett a true assett to the team.
“Great hotel, but terrible squeaking floors, you won't get any sleep.”
The hotel was clearly the best in it's time, but is very dated and shabby in areas. The rooms we're clean and in good condition though, and staff very helpful. Breakfast when it started was great, a full buffet with your typical english food, very nice. However I would never go back, as floor boards in this hotel clearly need fixing. No matter where you walk in the room they squeak badly, having a room above me caused a real issue, I was woken at 10:30 and 6 in the morning, and during the night, I guess when they got up for the loo. It's just impossible to get a good nights sleep.
“Altes Hotel à la haunted house im viktorianischen Stil”
Zur Eröffnung vor ca 200 Jahren musste das Hotel einer Perle ähnlich gewesen sein. Heute jedoch lässt sich der Charme von gestern nur mit viel Fantasie erahnen. Das Frühstück roch so wie der Teppich aussah - muffig. Die gute Strandlage des Hotels und die kostenlosen Parkplätze sind jedoch eindeutig als positiv zu bewerten.
