grotty and over priced, and a long wait for breaky

Posted 14-Oct-2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
Location: quite far out of the centre
on arrival not very good, the Savoy looks dilapidated - which it is. On check in - various customers checking out early due to dirty rooms and poor quality generally. Oh very few parking spaces for a hotel of this size - despite advertising free parking. Hallways with old carpets, and never cleaned properly - they may run over the carpets with a hoover, but not really clean and not smelling good. bar area looks a bit like a run down railway cafe. onto the rooms, clean sheets on the bed which was good, but .... dust everywhere, broken window handles, and a 1970s TV with a 12 inch screens. couldn't even close the windows. breakfast room - had to wait 25 minutes for a seat. Not enough staff, so tables not emptied causing the queues. Food average - help yourself buffet, but not all items replenished. Would I go again ..... never it's a dump

Exceptionally dated facilities!

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Needs investment!
Location: Location is all the hotel has going for it!
To add insult to injury, the price quoted by Expedia was incorrect as the hotel charge £2 for any type of card payment (debit or credit) which Expedia do not quote. The hotel is very "tired" and desperately in need of refurbishment! A sad old property!

Very disappointed...

Posted 07-Sep-2014
Cons: A complete refurbishment
The hotel requires a complete overhaul. The reception area doesn't give off a good a first impression. Carpets and furniture stained and a bucket at the bottom of the stairwell catching a leak (for the whole stay). We were allocated a room on the second floor. This room can only be described as a broom cupboard. The door opened on to a double bed, there wasn't much room to manoeuvre, there was no window to open and the room was extremely stuffy and warm. The bathroom smelt like a public toilet and the cleanliness was a little to be desired. We had to go back to reception to complain and was allocated a room at the front of the hotel, thankfully with a window and fresh air. Unfortunately this room lacked some care and attention but was much better than the previous room. But at least had clean linen. Unfortunately I was completely disappointed with the hotel in general. We never once saw or heard a hoover or saw any cleaners doing day to day jobs to keep on top of the general cleanliness of the hotel. The reception staff never greeted you and only spoke if spoken to. Sorry there are not many positives.

The Savoy....one of the worst I have stayed in.

Posted 10-Aug-2014
Pros: Departure. We tried to leave as soon as we arrived but anything better was already booked.
Cons: Everything could be improved on except the location which was excellent
Location: It's Blackpool!
We booked this hotel as it advertised parking, was pet friendly, and overlooked the sea. In truth parking even for the disabled is VERY limited. Whilst staff try to do their best it is clear this hotel is well past it's prime, and it seems that the owners spend little if anything to improve it. Dated decor, mould in the bathrooms, room cleaning that is very hit and miss with emphasis on the miss and second rate maintenance. On the plus side the food was good and plentiful although be prepared to share breakfast with people still wearing their nightwear and some of whom would not come amiss on the Jeremy Kyle show.

Poor Standard, no windows to open in rooms offered

Posted 07-Aug-2014
Pros: Entertainment. On seafront
Cons: Rooms and reception training re customer skills
Location: Good location near tram route and Blackpool , Sainsburys near by to get a decent breakfast and refund of parking fees if you spend over £5 in store.
Rooms disappointed but entertainment good and generally staff dealt well dealing with complaints. Food mediocre , just would not go back again . Entertainment was the best singer and quiz , but held in foyer area. Need to allocate a quiet room for reading , adult guests as children running all over the place.
