Nice hotel

Very clean hotel. Comfortable beds. The free wifi is not as easy as you would think. You have to sign up for the cloud. The bar is very nice.

Close to motorway

Pros: Location was good. Food in restaurant was good, staff very courteous and receptionist helpful on arrival. Lovely setting. Quiet and relaxing stay.
Cons: Rooms were very warm. Air conditioning needed.Accessible rooms should have twin beds not only a double.
Location: We were travelling on to Wales. Did not explore surroundings.
A welcoming hotel, friendly staff, comfortable. A good range of food and breakfast options. Rural setting close to main routes.

We didn't spend much time at the hotel but the room was very comfortable, extremely clean and was large enough to accommodate four people. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Great executive room, shame about the breakfast

Posted 26-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
Check-in went smoothly, as did finding my room. The executive room was spacious, had a decent TV and reclining chair. The bathroom was spotless, with decent shower and enough room to swing a cat. Now, moving onto the next morning - wandered down to breakfast in the restaurant, and it takes a couple of minutes to be shown to a table, in an area adjacent to the main restaurant (like the overflow). Well, the main restaurant wasn't completely full, but it was relatively busy, given it was 9:30 on a Sunday morning. The buffet was a cold buffet, and the breakfast was cook to order. Unfortunately, it took about 25 mins for someone to take my tea/coffee order, and breakfast - and that was just because the restaurant manager flagged up the fact I'd waited so long. In fact, everyone in the section had experienced poor service. When the breakfast came, it was very sparce - one egg, 2 bacon, 1 sausage, half a tomato, and a field mushroom the size of a 50 pence piece - gutted. Anyway, managed to get an apology at check-out, and they made things right. The hotel is very pleasant, great location, great rooms - just need to get enough trained staff working the restaurant!

Expensive wine!

Posted 05-May-2014
Pros: Easy to find off M6, conveniently situated for the wedding we were going to. Lovely spacious hotel for group gatherings. Very welcoming staff.
Cons: Bar prices!
Location: If we had time we would have liked to walk along the river. Salmesbury Hall nearby is well worth a visit.
Very friendly staff at reception, disappointed with room as it was small and overlooking the car park, rather than the river. We were staying there with many family members for a local wedding and they had much nicer rooms. We all met in the bar in the evening and were disappointed that a glass of Pino Grigio cost £9.50 a glass! Extortionate! The breakfast was nice and the service was excellent.
