Good points. Family room size was great, it was nice and dark. That's were the positives end. The breakfast service was terrible, not the usual MacDonald experience, ended nearly an hour early without warning to accommodate a football teams stay. The window in the room did not close fully, leaving a draught on our youngest. No management present when requested.

Easy to access location. Nice building inside and out. Lovely staff. Inside layout and signage a bit confusing. Need a code to leave by vehicle, but not to enter (make sure you remember the code, or just ask reception if you forget). Sometimes had to wait for reception staff if it was quiet. Room was excellent: clean, functional and nice!

Well placed just off the motorway Rooms well priced I don’t like having to pay an extra £13 to ensure a refundable status for the booking The lift has a strange odour as does the 3rd floor around the lift area The atmosphere of the hotel is slightly underwhelming and the staff differ in service level provision

Quiet location. Older style rooms in need of renovation but clean and we had a good nights sleep. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Excellent venue for business meetings combined with quiet surroundings and close proximity to Preston town centre; good transport connections and great food too. Would definitely stay again.

Hot than hell i believe!!
The staff were excellent in fact couldn’t have been better . The hotel location is fantastic for traveling up or down the m6 . I had a river view very nice . The hotel is very very tired but that was reflected in the price . I thought the dinner and wine to be London price not good value at all . My god the room temperature was so hot sauna standards couldn’t put down or open the window basically if they could put the heating down they could half the price for eating .

Awful smell just when you are about to go to the lift. Property need major upgrading and food and house keeping service not great. Good side is it’s peaceful and staff is friendly.

Wi-fi was very poor, kept dropping out and it was very frustrating when trying to work. When opening the window the 2 inches or so that was possible, it did make it very noisy as the hotel is next to a petrol station and main road/motorway. Staff & service was very good. Food was good.

Hotel is a bit tired and needs an update. Breakfast costs £16 per person and is average with anything outwith a basic breakfast incurring a £5 supplement.

Lovely place to stay very conveniently located
Great place to stay. My room was absolutely massive. Even had a seperate living room. Huge bed and very comfy. Breakfast was great. Only issue was the lighting on the front of the hotel was terrible. Could not even see the name until i had parked in the carpark.

Overnight Stay whilst travelling
Excellent location on the banks of the River Ribble. The food was also excellent, but pricey. It was a pleasure to find on site car charging.

Great stay needs a little renovation
Lovely hotel. Needs a little bit of renovation and cleaning in the rooms. Great sized family room with a lot of potential for it to be amazing. Great prices. Restaurant was lovely food was good.

Really Nice Stay
My wife and I stayed overnight in the Tickled Trout on our way south To Cornwall. We have stayed before and the hotel is a convenient stop over and close to the Motorway. Our welcome on arrival was excellent and our room was comfortable and clean. The room was a bit tired but not uncomfortable. We booked for an eveing meal and the service and food quality was excellent. My wife had a Rissoto which she descibed as truly delicious and I had the Lamb which was also truly delicious. Unusually for restaurants nowadays the food was served on roasting hot plates which makes such a difference to the food. We took the wine special which was a very acceptable Italian Red withan equally acceptable price. Breakfast was self service but was warm and very nice Overall a really nice experience and we will be using the Tickled Trout again

Did the job no problem.
Stayed here for a wedding nearby. Reception was at the nature reserve. Great location for this. Good hotel, friendly staff and helpful with advice for travel. It was only a one night stay but I was happy with everything. Room was good, plenty of hot water, decent shower, comfy bed.

Need to up their game
I have stayed here before and in other Macdonald hotels. On this occasion my experience was dreadful. On arrival I was greeted by a guy who literally did not want to be there. I had to ask where he was to a person in the bar! He had no interest and did not make eye contact. The room I had did not have WI-FI. When I rang reception he did not answer. I went downstairs to ask about Wi-Fi and he told me to go to my laptop, unfollow and then re follow the router details. He also said nobody else had a problem!! I eventually got another room, again, no Wi-Fi. At breakfast next morning, I placed my order for vegetarian breakfast. They had no veg haggis, sausage or potatoe scones. I then ordered eggs royal. They then came back and said they had no salmon. Ended up with beans on toast. Very poor service/ experience and not what I would expect from this chain. If they continue like this, nobody will visit.

Please accept my apologies in relation to breakfast. Our restaurant does get extremely busy and unfortunately some items do run out. I apologise on this on this occasion you were affected by this. We have fresh products being delivered daily, unfortunately some deliveries only arrive after service. We do hope you return to The Tickled Trout Hotel in the near future, and we look forward to welcoming you back.

The service was satisfactory, the room was clean and adequate. The bar area was very cold and there was no rush to change that. Bar prices are not pocket friendly. Staff were generally pleasant.

Tickle Trout stay
The overall stay was very pleasant. The only negative was that our room was not serviced on the last night and no towels replaced. Had to ring down to receptionist who propmtly brought up some towels.

Ok stay
The hotel reception, bar and restaurant were very good, staff very courteous and professional. The room, especially the bathroom needed some tlc, black mould around the shower and smelt terribly of damp. The toilet was difficult to flush. They do not service your room (ie change towels) unless you ask, didn’t realise this the first night so had damp towels the second day.

Have stayed here quite a few times and normally good but standards have slipped. Assume restaurant closed as was not asked at check in if wanted to book a table so went into Preston for food. Light bulb in hallway flashed constantly and was not changed. Found a previous customers vape in drawer in room. Soap dispenser did not work. Worst of all toilet did not flush!! Normally a good hotel but as i say perhaps a new manager or something as standards definitely slipped.

Our restaurant is not closes at 20:45 and we will certainly ask the receptionist why they did not ask you about a booking when you arrived if it was before this time.
