“Good for a short stay”
We had a room overlooking the beach & North Pier which was great. The room was comfortable but we did not have a window that opened. Breakfast was buffet style and the food good quality. There were lots of amenities (including the Tower) within easy walking distance from the Hotel. In general the Hotel was ideal for us.
“Value for money”
The Hotel was fine convenient for the centre of Blackpool. unfortunately our room looked out on to a parade of boarded up shops all looking very run down. The towels supplied with the room were past their use by date. we were on a four midweek special which was good value but I would have been very unhappy if I had paid the full price for the room
“Reasonable Place to Stay”
Overall, I found my stay at the Metropole enjoyable and in keeping with my expectations. It's located in central Blackpool, within walking distance of Blackpool North train station, the opera house and Winter Gardens, and the promenade. The staff was considerate and helpful. The building is old but well kept. It isn't the quietest place to stay, as it is located close to several clubs, and while I was there several tour groups were also present in the hotel. I wouldn't recommend it for a working trip, as the rooms aren't set up for that (internet is only available in the lobby, no desks, etc.) but for a vacation it's a good place to stay.
“This hotel is dreadful I dont know why Expedia have it listed - DO NOT STAY HERE”
The receptionist was so rude, the hotel was very very run down, I was able to touch both walls with my hands extended in the single rooms. Basically if I had not been visting my sick father I would have walked out - please please please dont give this poor excuse for a hotel ANY of your money - sleep on the beach instead - it would be more comfortable and cheaper!!!
“dissatisfaction”
with the money my sons and myself paid for this hotel we expected a lot better.we were made to wait at reception for half an hour, the room i had the towels were filthy, the pillowslips hadn't been changed and the wash hand basin hadn't been cleaned. the room itself you couldn't swing a cat in. you didn'tr even have to get out of bed to open the room door
“Sort out the basics and this would be a good hotel”
I stayed 2 nights here in a single room. On my arrival, there were no towels in my bathroom. It took in excess of 5 hours and 4 trips to reception for this to be rectified. (I was not the only guest who had this issue as I found on my 7pm visit to reception). Other than that, the hotel is fine, comfortable, has a great beakfast and well located, but they do need to get the basics right.
“better than expected”
just got the last parking space so get there early as they do fill up quick. check in promt even though they were busy.after reading many other reviews we were a bit apprehensive but a cheap rate swayed our decision. the location is the best in Blackpool and yes the hotel is looking a bit tired but not half as bad as we expected. our room didnt have a view but we did not mind that as all we had to do was walk out the door and it was there. the room was a good size with that much storage space i could have taken enough clothes too last us a month but wish i had taken a few spare coathangers. bathroom only had a shower but it was clean and very powerfull and we left our towels in bath as advised by another reviewer so they were changed. breakfast wasnt top notch but it was filling and plentyfull so we didnt go hungry. staff pleasant if you took the time to be pleasant with them.Didnt stay in for the entertainment so can not comment on that as there is soo much too do in blackpool anyway.we were on the third floor as this is smoking floor and it was great not to feel like a social leaper and have a smoke in room.only gripe is that the cafe closed at 5pm so if you wasnt booked in for evening meal you could not get a bite to eat but many food places close by soo not too bad.Would stay again if got good rate
“good hotel will book again"”
good big hotel shame about bar staff!!
“Please do not stay here!”
Do not stay in this hotel. As soon as we entered the hotel it smelled of body odour and stale stagant air. The windows were single glazed and absolutely dirty, inpossible to get sleep between hours of 1 am and 6 am, due to the nose of people fighting, being sick and the alll night discos. Breakfast was cheap, coffee was refuse from table to table and resembled engine oil. It was overall disgusting experience, why cant they even wash the windows in `dining room, beautiful old building but has just gone to the dogs. Never will return this hotel or blackpool.
“Very good, would go back any time!”
Great hotel, great location and friendly staff! Lovely food, with good selection, very pleased with stay!
