Sorry you did not enjoy your stay - Settlers Motel, Turangi has never been a handicap impaired advertised motel so I can understand if you did not enjoy your stay. I would have liked to phone you to apologise however your post stay review has come in as anonymous which means I can not do this.

Thank you for your feedback, I practise old fashion customer service, as your porch steps are stained black, a light is always welcome to see them, also at this time of the year with windows left open, insects have the opportunity to invade - closing the curtins and turning on a light in the unit, lessens this from happening. I apologise if you think this is a little strange however I do this for all my guests once darkness falls.

We at Settlers prefer to leave windows open during the day - we understand that with the weather being so hot and dry that dust can be blown into the units and sometimes this will leave a fine coat on surfaces. As you have mentioned the loft - it is explained to guests that this area can be upto 8degrees warmer than the ground floor fans supplied to help with this. Changing of the air-con unit temp - only a request - also explained. All 2/3 bedroom units have extraction in toilet/shower area, awaiting wooden scooting boards so replacement can be undertaken/painted. Carpet is on list for replacement however with Covid it had to be delayed like unit drapes. Sorry you did not find the unit comfortable or pleasant.

I would have appreciated if you had of mentioned that one of your party was mobility challenged. We can not make your stay pleasant or as safe as possible, if information like this is not mentioned at check in.

Thank you for your time to comment on the motel. The air conditioning is explained upon arrival - with the comment that we are only to happy to change the temperature settings - you only have to request this. The decks and furniture are scrubbed/washed each second day (wildlife is what some of our guests come to see and interact with) The fish cleaning room rules are - if you have to clean trout caught, you bag the offal and place it in the freezer (no smell for other guest to endure) and then each week these parcels are put out with the curb side rubbish for collection. All fisherman staying at settlers have complied with this for the last 3 months - the fish cleaning room is cleaned each second day to ensure no odour and is not offensive for guest in the units close to it. On the return of the spa key and towels - yes it is asked that the guest that has booked the spa (half hour sessions - but can book end to end sessions of up to 1 hour - so all guests staying can have a spa at the time they have requested, if they wish) return the key and spa towels after they complete their spa. - it gives the owner enough time to check the spa and ensure that the next guest is not disadvantaged by users before them with wet floors or litter (rubbish) left, helps with laundry - if the spa towels can be washed and dried during the night - they are. Your review was sent in anonymously which I would not normally respond too however please remember what is offensive to you, is very acceptable to others, we all have to live in the same environment and cater to all.
