“Comfortable, historic hotel”
The Pines Inn is a comfortable, historic hotel. Friendly staff, nice pub (open weekends only) in a beautiful town, Lake Placid. Within walking distance of the town center but in a quiet area off the main street. One thing to consider, it does not have an elevator, folks who have large quantities of luggage may struggle a bit. I travel quite a bit due to work and this was a great alternative to "typical" hotel/motel chains. I would not hesitate to go back.
“Great deal in Lake Placid”
This hotel was just minutes from the main strip of Lake Placid. It was clean and comfortable and a great deal for the location and time of year. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to get a good deal in the summer in a beautiful location for a quick holiday!
“Marathoners' Crash Pad”
This hotel could be a little gem with a few more small amenities. At the time of our visit, there was no food or beverage service available, no ice machine or ice buckets, poor internet connection. A rooftop garden or landscaping would spruce up the appearance of the addition to the side of the hotel. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Hosts were very accommodating and pleasant. Location was just off the beaten path of downtown Lake Placid; easily walkable yet quiet.
“Needs rennovation”
This inn needs rennovation badly. The wall paper in the rooms was peeling off, the faucet handle was broken, the shower curtain rod was broken, and the room furniture was dated. The advantage of staying here is that it is walking distance from the main street. I would look for better hotels in the area and avoid this inn if possible.
“Nice for the price.”
Quaint setting with bedroom-like rooms. The hallways need restoration, but alot of potential. Nice lobby and sitting room, but no elevator. Very nice staff, probably the owners since they were there day and night. A short walk to Main St. and Mirror Lake.
“fun times!”
perfect
“Not impressed”
The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming but the hotel was in a pretty poor state of repair. Wall paper was peeling off, and we had to climb right up to the attic for a cramped room. The room was clean, but there was no fridge. There were no breakfast facilities. For the price we expected a lot more. There were cheaper rooms available elsewhere, but we chose this place as we thought we would get a better quality room and service. Frankly we were disappointed.
“Great inn in a great location.”
Our first visit to Lake Placid was a pleasant experience due in large part to our stay at the Pines Inn. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and had a great location within easy walking distance to the village. We were completely satisfied with the friendly service we received during our stay, and highly recommend the inn to other travelers. The price was very reasonable as well.
“Was that a hotel?”
Weird, exterior & parking looked as if it was an old boarding house, college dorm......Not a hotel. The hallway and small winding stairs more like a B&B (old). Horrible room decor. No one seemed to be working there! Would not recommend the place to any one.
“Overall, the Pines Inn Lake Placid offers basic but very clean accomodations within a place that has”
Given the age of the hotel, it offers a lot of character and charm. The fact that it is owned and run by a husband and wife team, added a nice personal touch to see the same friendly face throughout the weekend. The only downfall is that the hotel has no stairs, so if you are running a marathon you might want to ask to be on the 1st or 2nd floor. The hotel is also very well situated, just off the downtown core, so you get the peace and quiet at night but are only a 5 minute walk to Mirror Lake and downtown. Overall, the Pines Inn Lake Placid offers basic but very clean accomodations within a place that has lots of character and friendly service!
