“Fantastic stay”

We stayed in the Adirondack Wing and the experience was wonderful! Wish the weather was warmer so we could have taken advantage of the balcony. Loved the hotel with the great room and the decor. Dinner in the clubhouse was excellent. Will be back!

Downtown Lake Placid is such a great place. Love the walkway around Mirror Lake.

“Nice Hotel. Needs Better Cleaning”

Everything was fine with the exception of the shower. There was pink material growing on the shower head.

“Beautiful room with beautiful view of Whiteface Mountain!”

We didn't realize that Crown Plaza had suites in Lake Placid. Room was huge, with balcony and full kitchen. Walking distance from center of town. A defiante return visit

“nice hotel - overpriced !”

Had a wonderful stay at the Crown Plaza Hotel over Thanksgiving. Beautiful weather enhanced the stay. Hotel is upscale but not worth the money. Staff are friendly and hotel is well kept.

“Room with a View”

The hotel sits on a hill overlooking Mirror Lake. It's close to the Olympic hockey arena . Shops and restaurants are all located within walking distance. Lovely view and location. Definitely recommend.

“Beautiful”

Perfect time of year to be in Lake Placid, end of September and the leaves had changed and there were amazing views from just about every area on the hotel grounds. Our room was cozy and beautiful with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub which was a nice surprise, the bed was a little hard for our liking but we made due. The staff was all very friendly and courteous, even the cleaning people said good morning and hello with a big smile. The front desk/kitchen was even nice enough to refrigerate a cake for us that wouldnt fit in the room fridge. We will definitely go back, our anniversary tradition!

Area recommendations

The town is just incredible, we had an amazing dinner at Mark's Steakhouse right on mirror lake. The staff there was so nice and had perfect timing with appetizer, entre and drinks... It really made our weekend away!

When to go

We went at the end of September and it was perfect, the leaves had changed but still warm enough for shorts and being outside.

Shopping

The town is pretty nice for shopping and my wife found some great deals in the outlets there for IZOD and BASS

Dining

Again Mark's Steakhouse was a great meal, pricey but perfect for a romantic dinner out when you want to splurge and treat yourself. DO NOT GO TO NICHOLAS, personal pizza for $16, salad for $10 rediculous instead try Mr. Mikes Pizza just up the street better prices and good food. I liked players sports bar but mostly because the Giants game was on, the food was alright basically your typical sports bar fare nothing really impressive. Finally the Lake Placid Bar and Brewery, good beer and pretty food food. You have to try the sampler of all their bee0r, which was i believe 6 different beers they brew on premises in 4oz glasses, just enough to try them all and they were really good!

“Generally excellent”

Room was very clean and nice - but overlooked indoor pool, which we had not been told. I do NOT like rooms like that and think people should be given another option. Dining options were not clear. We were told in bar area that dinner was being served there - thought the other dining room was closed but discovered later it was not. Service was slow but bartender, who made and served drinks and handled our dinner order as well as others, was overworked. Blame management for that, not the staff. He was very pleasant as were all staff. Very nice hotel. Beautiful view form the terrace.

“Will try something different next time.”

I was very satisfied with "most" of my stay at the hotel. There was one incedent that stuck with me and left a bad taste in my mouth. We went to the buffet breakfast the next morning and I told the woman that we had two free breakfasts with our stay. She said there was no problem, we just had to give her the coupons we would have received at check-in. We were never given any, so I went to the front desk to collect my coupons and the "young man" at the front desk gave me this smirkish look like I was trying to rip them off for two breakfasts. He did give me the coupons, but he had this little attitude about him that I wont forget.
