Likes: Room had nice views of Lake Geneva and mountains; Breakfast was very good with a lot of variety. Hotel was close to Bus Stop (but far from train station and main part of town). Needs Improvement: In one room the thermostat did not work properly and was very hot. The other rooms fan was very loud – got a headache from constant noise and needed a Motrin.

The property it self , has the most fabulous rooms and views, in a fantastic location, but the staff were a bit hit and miss

Great view
The view from the hotel if you are blessed to have a lake view room is amazing. The hotel does appear a little tired in places. The bed was firm for a side sleeper. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Not all amenities were open at the time of our stay. The bar was expensive. While the hotel is at the other end of the lake promenade from the centre, it is a nice walk and not too far.

Would Stay Here Again
Although the Royal Plaza Montreux is a little dated we thoroughly enjoyed our stayed. The service was fantastic, room was very comfortable and location perfect!

We are travelling with a service dog. On their website it clearly states that service animals are welcome at no cost. When we checked in one of the ladies in reception was telling the man who was checking me in that I need to pay. When I questioned her she said that you are in Switzerland and the service animals ID is issued in the UK. I said so if someone is disabled in the UK does that mean that they are not in Switzerland? She was incredibly rude. After checking with her manager of course she didn’t charge us. The check in process took around 30 minutes because of this. I also spend my birthday there where I was promised something special for my birthday. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. The whole experience was very disappointing. I’ve stayed at this hotel several times before but this is the first time I felt the need to write a review. When I asked for the manager when I checked out I was told by another lady that there was no manager on site. This was not true the manager was on a break however she lead me to believe that no manager was working on Sunday. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. The staff need training on how to be polite to people and stop mentioning the obvious that we are in Switzerland!!!

On the contrary it is written on our website and on Expedia that we welcome pets but the charge remains in supplement, even if it is a service dog. My colleague only wanted to tell you that we do not know the specific rules in the UK but here in Switzerland, the charge remains for all the pets. For your next stay, be sure to book a room mentioning that you are coming with a dog and explain in advance the situation. I confirm that a in-room welcome was placed in your room especially for your birthday, with sme chocolate and macarons, it is very unfortunate that you didn't see it. We sincerely hope that you were able to enjoy Montreux despite the deception. Best regards,

Enjoy the location: Right on the lake shore, with lovely gardens outside the restaurant. There is a walking path which goes along the lake which runs right behind the hotel, with a wide variety of birds, tress, flowers, etc. The staff are all lovely, and speak excellent English, always obliging and nothing is ever too much bother. Hotel amenities are nice, rare in Europe- spacious rooms, in room minibar fridge, large beds, bathrooms with a tub and shower, pool, hot tub, sauna, spa. Only critique is the lack of casual dining near by. With the bar/ room service menu being small, there isn’t much close by after one meal with them. Prices are high, as is usual in Switzerland.

Great hotel with a friendly staff. Good breakfast and restaurant is offering dining and bar. Refreshing pool and sauna with a steam room. Stayed for one night and came back stayed 2 more. Great views. Relaxing atmosphere.

The hotel is in an amazing area right in the promenade. The hotel seems a bit dated, however, the staff and amenities make it worth it. We had a balcony view, and the rooms are very spacious.

We stayed at the hotel during Montreux jazz festival. It is a minute away from the Stravinsky auditorium, which was very convenient. There is a nice bar and an excellent restaurant on site. We had a delicious dinner and a lunch. Parking was pricy but it was a right decision since all other parting were full during the festival. Spa is a quite small but fortunately there was only few people there.

Montreux Jazz Visit
Great location for Montreux Jazz; right on top of the venues, although noisy if you turn in before 1am. Lovely hotel and staff. Only negative is that the breakfasts are a bit expensive.

Amazing location
Excellent hotel with very good staff, and a very grand lobby and breakfast area. The Sinatra bar has a great comfortable feel, and the roof terrace is a joy. The views of the lake and general ambience are fantastic, especially from the room balcony. Some areas are in need of updating, as is the soundproofing, but didnt detract from our enjoyment. Will definitely return.
