“Central Waterfront”
The hotel had a good number of staff, and all were willing to speak English. The hotel is on the waterfront, close to the Metro and Bus, and numerous restaurants and boutiques. It is reasonably priced (relative to Switzerland), although the breakfast prices are too high. A very comfortable hotel.
“We had a lovely stay”
We were made welcome on arrival and allocated room 720 with a fabulous view of Lake Lehman and the harbour of Ouchy. King size bed, bathroom with all facilities and a tv with around 130 channels including BBC1. The bed was comfortable and the room roomy! I recommend paying the extra for a lake view. All the staff were helpful, the room was cleaned daily and the internet was free. Minor niggles: the mini bar stopped working and we were offered a change of rooms as there was no one available to fix it. And with the current exchange rate the breakfasts are not worth it at 23 Swiss Francs (£18.50) for continental and 33 Sw Fr (£26.50) for a cooked, unless someone else is paying of course. Top tips: flying into Geneva, getting to Lausanne is easy by train and then the Metro from Lausanne to Ouchy (5 mins) with a short walk to the hotel. Buy a Lake Geneva/Alps Regional Pass in the UK before you travel; it will cost £75 and entitle you to 3 days free travel and 4 days at half fare on the railways and some of the ferries in the region. It is cheaper than buying it in Switzerland and will save you a lot of money if you plan sightseeing. I can recommend trips to Geneva, Evian (ferry), Broc (Nestle chocolate factory) and Gruyeres (castle), Rochers-de-Nayes (mountain top, outstanding views), Montreux and Chillon Castle (one of the best I have ever seen).
“First Class Hotel”
More than I expected from the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The condition of the hotel was perfect. On the negative side, there is currently work being carried out on one of the lifts, which was quite noisey. On one occasion the shower/bath water was only luke warm and on another occasion only one bath towel was supplied. However, the main gripe was the cost of the breakfast, over £100 for 4 people. The breakfast, which was very good, can of course be avoided.
“Movenpick in Lausanne”
Good hotel, woderful location with easy access to all Lausanne places
“Swiss Inhospitability”
Stayed there for 3 days during a biz visit to lausanne and can safely say that i will never stay there again.. The room was dirty filled with ash from the prev tenant (Inspite of it having been a non smoking room) The staff was quite indifferent and the parking on site just did not exist at times (and wasnt free either)
“Fine -- just fine”
We only stayed at this hotel for one night and it was just fine. Location was the most important consideration in my choice and, when we arrived, it was just where I had hoped to be -- right across the street from the harbor. Pros: friendly staff, especially the housecleaning person; location; free local transportation passes, which made it easy to get into Lausanne; proximity to Olympic Museum (which we were hoping to visit but it was closed by the time we arrived) Cons: hallways were a little worn, as was the bathroom; overall appearance was a bit gloomy; room lighting was dim; room location was over some sort of garbage bin; immediate neighborhood (once you left the harbor) felt a little sketchy; parking in that area is really expensive (as is everything else).
“A good experience!”
As a group of 6 visiting Switzerland for the first time, this hotel was ideal. The location was convenient to the train station and local Metro. Having the Metro pass provided as part of our hotel package allowed us to navigate the city efficiently and affordably. Desk staff gave us good eating recommendations and were helpful checking for availability and making reservations The nearby pleasant lakeside park was a bonus. Only free wireless capability in the room would have improved our visit.
“Would love to haave had longer”
Magnificently situated on lake-front and with free access to funicular Metro to get into town. We really enjoyed Lausanne and the hotel.
“Would certainly book again”
We stayed for two nights in a twin room with lake views. The reception staff were polite and spoke excellent English, the room was very clean and the beds large and comfortable. We parked in the underground car park opposite the hotel, quite expensive but cheaper than the hotel carpark. We were on the 5th floor but could still hear traffic noise from the busy road infront of the hotel although we were not disturbed by this.
“Hotel accommodation great - dinner service poor”
Hotel check-in was fairly swift and pleasant. We had reserved a deluxe lake view room and it didn't disappoint - two large queen beds and a well appointed room and bathroom - a few minor criticisms would be that the TV's are fairly antiquated - I would expect a decent flat screen to be honest. The view deserved a balcony really - the windows had some furniture removed to prevent opening the largest section which was a shame and my final gripe was that there were no euro sockets near the bed so laptop leads had to be strewn across to the desk.. but all in all the room was very nice and comfortable. After exploring the lakeside harbour we came back to the hotel for dinner. It was busy but regardless of this the service was poor - we had no salt and pepper on our table and no additional condiments were offered when the main course eventually arrived. The unfriendly head waiter seemed far more interested in clearing down tables for new customers even though the existing customers were suffering ...suffice to say there were many other guests who appeared to be very disgruntled at the slowness and disorganisation. The food for the price was distinctly average ..we were underwhelmed to say the least. Bar service was fine and breakfast, though expensive, was better organised than the shambles the night before. Would I stay again or recommend ? for the view and accommodation - yes definitely..for dinner ? absolutely not!
