“European Ambience and Convenience on Lake Geneva”
Lausanne, Switzerland, on the northern coast of Lake Geneva, is a fascinating blend of ancient and modern. We really enjoyed the European ambience of Hotel du Boulevard and its convenience to local sites, transportation and the lake. Our purpose for staying in Lausanne was its proximity to the many interesting villages and 13th century chateaux on La Cote, the Swiss Riviera. We especially enjoyed the old town area of Le Prex and Chateau de Chillon in Montreux. As Americans, we were thrilled to see such ancient buildings and learn about their long histories. We also enjoyed seeing the terraced vineyards along one side of the roadway and Lake Geneva backed by mountains on the other. Late November in La Cote turned out to be a good time to visit.
“lausanne”
Water started dripping from the ceiling at night. Make sure your laptop etc. is covered when you go to sleep.
“Not impressed”
Not sure what other reviewers are talking about when they say they had big rooms - ours was tiny. Also, the photos on the website are not representative. Not impressed with the check-in procedure - it was kind of spooky!! The only positive things I can say is it was very convenient for the station and trolley buses.
“Okay for one night”
Picked this hotel as a convenient stopover. Very close to train station and easy to find. Check-in is impersonal, as your only contact with the hotel staff is through an intercom outside the door and then the phone once inside. There is no lobby.. Room was pleasant enough, and clean. Bed was acceptable. No top sheet, and comforter was too small, but there was another one in the closet. Hotel "discount" breakfast across the street was $10 Swiss Francs each for coffee, bread and rolls. Neighborhood is pleasant.
“nice and convenient”
Very easy to walk to from the hotel -- downhill a short distance. Strange not to have a front desk (or anyone), but the keybox worked fine. The restaurant across the street, Le Milan, serves enormous dishes of wonderful homemade pasta. We could have shared one plate...ordered two!

I would not recommend this place
“Good location”
The hotel was in close proximity to the central train station (5 min. walk), which made traveling around the area really easy. The hotel was also relatively close to the waterfront (15 min. walk). Although the walk on the way back is uphill. The hotel was clean, quiet, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. The hotel is self-service check-in and out, and you only ever see the cleaning staff. If you are staying for a few days, and planning on being out of your room most of the day i.e. needing it only for sleeping and a shower, this is a good place to consider.
“Outstanding Value”
Great location--safe area and a quick walk to train/metro station, which is essential for almost all sightseeing. Room comes with free metro pass for each person for the length of your stay. As others have said, management/reception is off-site; however we experienced zero problems with check-in. Towels and toiletries were provided with daily maid service and the room was spotlessly maintained. Its possible we were upgraded to a larger room, but we had a great view and plenty of extra space in Room #404 (a loft with a small kitchenette). We paid for a standard room. The decor was simple but not at all dated/tired. The lift was small but very helpful for check-in with suitcases. This is a great value for Switzerland!
“Very close to train station”
Spent 1 night here. Was so close to train station and is about in the center between the old town (northern part of town) and lakeside (southern part). Room was comfortable and clean. Be advised, there is no reception at this hotel. The entrance was on the side street, not on the main street (Grancy). You pressed the buzzer on the front door and someone will let you in. Once inside there is a lockbox on the wall, you enter a reservation code that they give to you and it will open one of the keyboxes for you. They have a washer and dryer in the basement, it accepts 1 and .20 euros coins. The Milan restaurant across the street that the information card in the room mentioned was good in my opinion.
“Not Impressed”
We arrived to discover that there was no reception - just a phone on the wall! The hotel is clearly remotely run and managed. The room was big and the bed comfortable, but we had to share a towel, and the sink plug didn't work. We had chosen this hotel because of its proximity to the station, but wouldn't go there again.
