“Value hotel in excellent location”
A terrific location; Excellent shopping and dining nearby. 2 minute walk to the Riponne metro station gets you access to all of Lausanne. 10 steps from the hotel is the Co op store with a full grocery shop on the lower level, and a cafeteria style restaurant on the top floor with an amazing rooftop patio offering a million dollar view of the city.
“great location, very basic hotel”
A very good location 'up the hill' in Lausanne. The hotel is very basic with small rooms, but it is clean & quiet & convenient. A place to 'crash' at night. Not a place to try to work in your room or to hang out.
“Good deal for Switzerland”
Good choice for a budget hotel in Lausanne. (Budget is a VERY relative term in Switzerland!) Smallish but perfectly adequate rooms, nice breakfast included, friendly staff, slightly quirky decorations. No one there at night, so make sure to leave a message to be let in if you're planning to arrive late.
“Great location, good hotel”
+ve great location in the old part of town, near the cathedral, shops, theatres, museums and the metro. +ve friendly reception staff & breakfast staff -ve the entrance stairs, too many if arriving with heavy luggage (and we did) -ve nearby people that were substance abusing, not intrusive, but... the restaurant they suggest offers decent food, however waiters grumpy and impolite. overall will stay again if in lausanne
“Excellent location”
Great location, prices and customer service
“OK within limits”
The Hotel Crystal is located in an interesting area with good access to shops and the Museum. It is a metro ride from the railway station, which is fine once you understand Lausanne's excellent public transport system but a problem for us. The hotel is not very prominent from the street. There is a supermarket next door, which was useful. We had a great balcony room with a view towards the Cathedral and the Mountains which we greatly enjoyed. The balcony was much larger than the tiny room. The Hotel is not airconditioned so without the balcony it would have been stifling. Internet access was expensive. My complaint about the hotel was that we had to leave early the next morning, before breakfast was served. There was no creativity shown in dealing with this. Given that the breakfast room had cereals, milk and beverages readily available this could have been handled much better. We were not allowed into our room until 2pm despite it being clean and vacant for some obscure reason. The Crystal Hotel is focussed on expedient management rather than the needs of its guests. If you fit in with them you will be ok. I think there might be better places to stay in Lausanne, which is a lovely city.
“Great hotel, at the very centre of Lausane”
For start, we were given the top floor room with a magnificent view of the center of the city, and part of the Geneva lake and the Alps in the background. The room was in good condition, and the breakfast was ok. The metro station was one minute walking distance, taking you in two stops to the main railway station. Definitely recommended!
“Pretty ok”
Overall, it's pretty good. It's very closed to all the Old Town's sightseeing. It's really closed by the metro, Riponne, only 2 mins away. The only concern was that there're quite a few homeless hang around in that metro station. They don't bother anyone but if you feel uncomfortable, you could take the Lausanne Flon. The breakfast was excellent.
“Central located hotel”
The hotel is well located to all the sights of the city. The cleanliness of the room was fine. The continental breakfast was fine. There is a nice view of the cathedral from the 5th floor balcony of the breakfast area.
“Nice hotel in old town”
I spent two nights in the Crystal and would recommend it as a mid-range hotel. Clean, friendly staff and a good location in the old town.
