“Lake Garda hotel”
An excellent hotel where the service was both efficient and friendly. Hope to go back some time.
“Nice hotel but not quite 5 star”
We have just returned from 5 nights at the Grand Fasano and as it has no reviews yet I thought this would be helpful to others. If you are looking for a break away from it all and a complete chill out then this is for you. The hotel is right on the lake with its own private garden and jetties from which you can dive straight into Lake Garda. There is a lovely swimming pool and a jacuzzi. The public areas inside the hotel are very nice and you can have breakfast and other meals on the patio looking over the lake. Breakfast was a buffet with a good selection plus an egg chef. We like to see a bit of the area so did not eat dinner at the hotel. This is the only downside really - the location. Fasano is a tiny village with nothing there and Gardone is a 15-20 minute walk down the hill by the side of a busy road - not what we were expecting. When you get to Gardone itself there is not a lot of choice of restaurants (5 or 6). The best one is right by the ferry called Wimmer. There isn't really much to do other than stroll around Gardone (takes about half an hour) however there are ferries which take you all around the lake so that is what I would recommend you do. Our room at the hotel had a fantastic balcony with a lake view (make sure you get lake side or you will overlook the busy road). However the room itself was a bit tired looking and could do with a lick of paint to cheer it up. I would give it 4 stars rather than 5 as a result of this.
