“Luxury and Decadence on the Lake!”
This was our 5th hotel of our 10 hotel Euro road-trip. I advised the hotel that we were on our 2nd honeymoon and although the confirmation was only for a garden view, they immediately upgraded us to a lake view!! A tremendous start to a wonderful 2 day stay. The rooms are very grand with high ceilings and ornate decorations and furnishings of a very high standard taking you to heights of pleasure in the opulent surroundings. The bathroom had the most powerful shower I have EVER encountered. On full power it was actually painful, but still fun! The facilities are outstanding but taking into consideration the breathtaking view, it compliments them even further. How much fun is it to be swimming in a pool floating on Lake Como, surrounded by mountains pointing into a clear blue sky? It actually takes your breath away! The service on the faux beach leading to the floating pool was exemplary. The memory of drinking ice-cold Prosecco in the hot Italian sunshine before taking a dip in the cool pool will live with me a long time. Our rate included breakfast which is both plentiful and delicious. Definitely try the meats and cheeses with the awesome fresh fruit! As a final gesture to us, the hotel provided a bottle of Prosecco with the printed sign 'Happy Honeymoon'! We will definitely return! (they even offer free wi-fi in your room!)
“Belissimo!”
A lovely hotel. Plenty of character, great views, well furnished rooms, good food and friendly and helpful staff. Food and drink a bit pricey maybe, but all in all the stay was worth every penny. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
“Bravo!”
Great hotel and facilities, friendly staff who all spoke English led to a very relaxing, enjoyable vacation!
“Beautiful and relaxing”
Beautiful gardens and a great choice of swimming pools onsite. Scenery at breakfast (on the terrace) was lovely - same view from most of the hotel restaurants, wine bar etc. Staff were always friendly and helpful.
“Fantastic Hotel with A1 Views!!”
We booked a 2 night stay and can honestly say that it was wonderful. Hotel was everything we expected and more. Decor is very original and very ornate. The spa was fantastic with views over the lake. Great Place !!
“A Lakeside Paradise”
Grand Hotel Tremezzo is well sited on Lake Como with the the lovely seaside town of Bellagio across the water (reachable by frequent boats). The hotel itself is a delight and lives up to its name as a Grand Hotel. Very spacious and beautifully ornate common rooms The facilties are excellent apart from the parking which is in short supply and requires deft manoeuvring by the concierge staff. We were wary about previous reports of old-style bath and WC facilties, but we can report that our room was excellently decked out;; helped by the fact the hotel upgraded us (without extra charge) to the Presidential suite which included a walk-in shower and jacuzzi bath. The hotel has delightful gardens at the rear. Other plus points are the excellent terrazza ristorante - ala carte but a very reasonable menu di giorno at 52 euro (excl wine etc) . Staff were very efficient and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Much to see at Tremezzo (inc Villa Carlotta 200 yds away) and Bellagio; Well worth a visit. There is a busy road in front of the hotel which can be difficult to cross due to the raod traffic, but worth it as there is a delightful open air pool on the lake with deckchair laden terrrace on other side. Much depends on the weather. Not a lot to do if wet, but fabulous when the sun shines.
“lovely place for honeymoon”
Excellent hotel Lovely staff Great location evening meals expensive, but lots of local places to eat lakeside road bit irritating, though not the fault of the hotel!
“Would go back again if rooms are updated.”
We loved most things about the hotel except for the very poor condition of the bedroom and bathrooms. We realise the property is very old and all the more magnificant for being so, but bathrooms were terribly outdated and only worthy of a three star rating, as were the bedrooms. We have stayed in some beautiful 5 star hotels in Italy, all just as old, but this hotels bedrooms and bathrooms are in great need of renovation for the rates that they charge. That said the staff were wonderful and could not fault. The restaurant good a little expensive but the food made up for it. The hotel grounds were stunning as were the various pools and spa facilities. Lake como is amazing and the hotel well located to see all that it has to offer. We would definately go back to Lake Como, but this hotel only when the rooms and bathrooms have been re-decorated and the bathrooms modernised.

Tremezzo, Italy: Glamorous villas and hotels abound near Tremezzo, but all pale into insignificance beside the splendid Villa Carlotta. Built between 1690 and 1743 for a wealthy Milanese banker, it was named after its last private owner, a Prussian princess. The extravagant interior is noted for its art, including Canovas sculpture of Cupid & Psyche. The gardens are best in late spring when the azaleas and rhododendrons are in bloom.
