A couple of years ago I stayed at this hotel and had a fine experience. Nothing much, but it was clean and the service was fine. Plus the view from the pool area was worth the prize of admission by itself. I write this since I had the chance to go back this past weekend for a short stay and I was really surprised to see quite a few renovations that were made to the hotel this past year that changed my perception for the better. The owners built a small wooden, non-obtrusive, dock from the beach to about 140 feet into the sea which turns an already great view into an amazing one, specially during sunsets. Should be a great setting for beachside weedings. Also, the rooms were fully renovated as was the staff, so the service, especially from Luis and Efraín really caters to most of your needs. Finally, I cannot say enogh good things about the food service in the restaurant, everything I ordered from the menu was delicious and without delays. As if the above wasn´t enough, there´s a beautiful Cenote right next to Hotel grounds that you can explore and swim in.
The overall presentation is outstanding. Bright happy colorfully clean
decorated rooms. Excellent food and lots to chose from. Beautiful pools and beaches. Friendly staff. A real wonderful environment. We did not want to leave.
This was a great experience, our second time staying at this hotel. Of course, this is not 5 stars like the Ritz Carlton but for the value is 6 stars! The hotel is spotless and there is more than enough room in the apartments. Very nice staff and lots of extras (passes to beach club, free bicycle rentals, fresh coffee and tea throughout the day). If you do not care about staying on the beach and you want to save some money, I highly recommend Palms. And even though the beaches and jungles of Tulum have much to offer, do not discount town itself. It was nice to be in walking distance to the excellent restaurants and local (tame) nightlife in town. A tip: as of October 2014, there is noisy construction next to the hotel on the east side. I would recommend asking for a room on the north or west side of the property.
we did not actually stay there, when we got there we found out you need to pay extra 150 pesos so you can use the air conditioner. We did not know that AA stands for air condition. Stayed next door in Villa Tulum with the pool.
