Did not get rooms booked on Expedia

Posted 03-Jul-2014
Pros: Nice accommodations and good breakfast
Cons: I would book directly to the hotel and make sure I got the room I requested.
Location: Great location and lots to do in La Crosse, parks, trails, good restaurants and walking distance to all.
I booked 8 rooms for a wedding on Expedia. They were 2 bedroom suites that we booked and paid for. When we got there they gave us 2 beds in room, not 2 bedrooms for all of our reservations except for 1. They did not have any 2 bedroom left and told us we would have to go through Expedia who could not help us either.

Quaint and comfortable Hotel

The receptionist received us kindly. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. It was great to be able to open a window onto a quiet location for some fresh air.

Recently remodeled interior

Posted 16-Feb-2014
Pros: Convenient to downtown LaCrosse yet far enough off the main downtown streets so that it is quiet.
Cons: New mattresses would make a huge improvement
Location: Near the Mississippi River and downtown drinking and eating establishments such as the Freight House Restaurant
Everything was fine EXCEPT that both my husband and myself woke up with our hips aching from sleeping on our sides with the mattress that was not at all comfortable. We have stayed here in the past and do not remember that problem. We wondered if the money spent on the interior remodel of the common areas should have been spent on new mattresses!

Our Stay

Posted 03-Feb-2014
This is a very nice hotel. I would guess that our particular experience was unusual, and probably due to the hotel being fully booked and/or computer problems. On checking in, there were no issues at all. On returning to the hotel, our key would no longer open our room. When we went to the desk, our key had been changed to a room on another floor. It was then changed back to our room. The rest of our stay was very nice. Upon check-out, a receipt could not be provided. We were assured that one would be sent to us, but it was not. My husband is very big on keping all receipts, so he was not too happy about that.

Not A Grand Stay

Posted 21-Jan-2014
Pros: The room size.
Cons: Customer relations, breakfast, lobby.
Location: GOOD!
When we arrived we were surprised and disappointed to see the entire lobby and breakfast area under renovations. We reserved 3 rooms in this hotel for a family event. There wasn't a stitch of furniture in the lobby. If you wanted to wait for someone in the lobby there was one chair. Breakfast was moved to the "Board Room" which wasn't large eough for my family, let alone the entire hotel. Breakfast items would run out quickly and were not replenished as quickly. We put up with it for 2 days and decided to eat breakfast out on the last day. Guests (adults and children) would come into the "Board Room" for breakfast after swimming with wet suits and bare feet. All the staff said was: "I'm sorry, we'll be all done in 2 weeks". Well, that didn't help us one bit. Other than apologies they did nothing. They gave the impression that they did not care. Then on the last day I requested a late checkout for ONE of the THREE rooms so that we may store our luggage until our flight. They offered us an hour and said we would have to pay for a half day if we wanted additional time (I only asked for 3 hours). Fed-up, I called Expedia and complained. Expedia must have contacted the hotel bc the lady at the front desk called us back and said we could have one room for a late checkout. I feel they should not have been so insensitive to our situation and could have smoothed things over with an additional discount even though we booked through Expedia. Or, a breakfast voucher!
