“keep on driving”
When you see the hotel on the website and first pull into the drive the hotel looks impressive. Country hotel, swimming pool, large outdoor gravelly garden for breakfast - it looked so promising! Unfortunately the reality was much different. Aside from one member of reception staff, who was fantastic, the staff were at best uninterested, with a streak of surly not usually seen much outside Paris. The corridors were dirty, and unbelievably, there was litter in the elevators and other public areas. We didn't try the breakfasts (priced at €17 or €19 per person per day - a ludicrous price for a breakfast, even for a 5 star hotel, which this was not). Even the free wifi was annoying - you constantly were being automatically logged out every few minutes. However I managed to get enough internet access to search for another hotel, just down the road. The other hotel we stayed in was the same price as L'Orangerie, but was far far better, and breakfast was included in the price (les 3 Iles). The beaches, countryside and restaurants in the surrounding area are great, but do yourself a favour and find somewhere else to stay.
“What a wonderful hotel!!”
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! It is low key and set in beautiful grounds. It is a truly beautiful building with large windows and very high ceilings. The hotel was originally a monastery and is very peaceful. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it. Excellent staff who could have not been more helpful.
“An Unexpected Find”
Lovely building with a stunning view over vineyards and the bay. Most attractively converted - very simple, very stylish, quite intimate. The pool looked very welcoming too but it was pouring with rain and quite cold... Friendly staff, thoroughly recommended.
