“Very good hotel. Very convenient for old city.”
Very good modern hotel. There was no food except at breakfast, but this was no problem because there are so many excellent eating places within a few minutes easy walk of the hotel. Hotel staff were very helpful and advised on local sites and many eating places. One negative point: like many hotels in Spain it has a handful of marble steps between the reception and the lift, are tedious for anyone who has difficulty with walking.

“Fantastic Hotel!”
A very modern, clean and centrally located Hotel. The staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful. The prices were excellent, fantastic value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others and would stay there again!
“Good experience at Hotel Compostela”
Clean and functional hotel very handy for old city and cathedral. Good breakfasts. Generally excellent. Hotel has no car park but local public car park is handy and not too pricey. Just one criticism from one of our party who uses a walking stick - we can't understand why this, like so many hotels, has several marble steps between the foyer and the lift. Without this access would be so easy - even for those with reduced mobility.
“Functional modern hotel - no frills”
Be warned - many of the rooms lack natural light with only a very small window positioned very high up in the room. The stark, modern decor will not be to everyone's taste. It was not to ours. Unless you are lucky enough to be put on the 4th floor (we got our room changed) you will find you are negotiating your way around the corridors that are horribly dark: the automatic lighting is slow to respond. The whole place feels very impersonal - like an airport. There were silly things, too, which let the place down: the safe in our room didn't work and the shower had to be fixed on the first day, and the room looked as if it hadn't been recently dusted. On the plus side: the manageress was superb and one of the reception staff was especially willing; the rest of the reception staff were poor and one was downright rude when there was a crisis one night with many guests complaining because an alarm had gone off and we could not sleep for the noise. This particular character lost his cool completely, insisted he could not understand anyone who did no speak Spanish and would do nothing until, fortunately, some Spanish guests made very forceful complaints. We loved Santiago de Compostella - it is a beautiful city - but we were disappointed with this 4 star hotel.
